Powerfull Output.......2006-02-06
Long Term View.......2006-01-09
Reliability, however, is an issue. To date (bought in 2001 ish) I have had to replace the lead twice, due the rubber sheath coming away from the wire where it connects to the earpeice, eventually resulting in the audio cutting out. Wouldn't be so bad, but the replacement cables cost £16!
I've also found the 'notches' that grip the ear-pieces at your desired fitting wear away over time to the extent that I have to readjust mine everytime I put them on, and they tend to slip off if I tilt my head.
Finally, the horrible silver paint starts to rub away quite quickly on some areas.
As I've only ever used them with my PC at home, I'd say that they'd fare even worse in a harsher portable environment. I still think I've just about got my money's worth but you should know these aren't quite a lifetime investment.
Bigger, not better.......2005-11-10
Second, the sound is pretty even across the range but there is an extra bass weight that probably suits pop and jazz rather more than classical. They also sound
So, physically they seem reasonably robust and the sound is pretty good. But if you're into portable listening the smaller (and cheaper) PX100 or 200 are a much better bet and, despite their size, they pack quite a punch. The PX100 in particular is more transparent but being open backed that means others can hear your music too.
So, a mixed back then, and perhaps best for static listening through your hifi rather than on the move.
Brilliant Headphones.......2005-07-18
Great set of headphones. Great bargain!.......2005-04-13
Included in the box is the set of headphones, and a converter allowing you to use it with a larger (1/8'') plug which you commonly find on Hi-Fi's or leaving it off, the smaller style plug found on many walkmans. Unfortuntaly with mine there was no manual included detailing warranty instructions, and tips on how to wear which is not quite as easy as just putting them on. You need to try and get the entire pleather sitting on your ear so they seal. The top of the headphones also have a pleather rest on them which helps keep them both in possition and comfortable on your head. Overall they are quite comfortable once you get used to them.
Being open headphones, they allow outside noises in and their own sound out (I don't know yet how much). Personally I think this is a good thing if you intend to use them as a pair of home headphones as it lets you hear people shouting at you from the next room, but if on the move you certainly won't be able to ignore the sound of the train unless listening to continuosly loud trance music on high volume. Even so, these headphones can be powered from a portable device easily without draining the battery to much.
Sound quality - these headphones are the clearest headphones I have ever heard. Although I don't have much experience for anyone who isn't used to listening to £150 Sennheisers and Grado's these are a set of great headphones for any kind of music. Compared to other headphones these tend to have a rockier sort of feel but still, they do justice to any kind of music. Highs are clear and sharp and the bass is not too obvious and in your face, as with cheaper 'bass enhanced' cans.
Overall I recommend these cans to anyone wanting a cheap hi-fi set of headphones to listen to at home. They are great sounding if a little bit garish on the eyes (not a huge fan of silver myself) and are definetly well worth the money!
