Good For The Money.......2008-01-14
Well ... the remote control is pretty much useless ... audio jack works fine good sound quality ... haven't yet tried the s-video
... good low cost ipod dock ... i rate it 4 stars ... cant change the main rating
Good, but not quite as good as I had hoped.......2008-01-11
I had been looking for a dock for my new 80gb iPod Classic for a few weeks now, and was very happy to find this one for a reasonable price.
After receiving it, I was looking forward to connecting it up to my PC, but was disappointed that there was no USB connecting cable. I was hoping there would be a black one inside, as I only had a white one supplied with my iPod.
The only other downside to this was the remote, I am unable to navigate through the menus with it, its fine changing tracks and albums etc, but I was hoping to be able to navigate the menus also.
Other than that I do like it, it looks very nice, has a range of inserts for different iPods and it feels quite sturdy too.
Its a shame I can't rate it 3.5 rather than 4.
Great little iPod Dock - well recommended.......2008-01-05
I wanted to hook my my 30gb colour iPod to my stereo, I have an AV amp system and looked at a number of iPod docking solutions but they all seemed really expensive except this one. So looking at other feedback and taking the plunge I have to say well impressed ;-)
I saw other comments about it not syncing well with PCs/iTunes - but I don't use it for that - I simply hook my iPod up to the stereo amp and it sounds great, and the remote far from a gimick is tiny but works well and the docking unit is a nice black with a cool blue light. Looks great and it charges the iPod up as well.
As others have noted make sure you get a cable to hook the dock to your system which is not included - but that came up as a set on Amazon was well advised when i bought.
Best piece of kit I've bought in ages. Thouroughly recommended.
Pretty Good.......2007-12-28
I use this with an iPod touch and am pretty happy with it.
Good points:
- Comparitively cheap for dock, charger and remote
- Works great for connecting iPod to hifi
- Remote works with iPod touch including changing albums, tracks and volume
Bad points:
- Video out does not work from composite out with ipod touch (haven't tried from s video as don't have a cable). Not major for me as mainly bought as an audio dock.
- No included dock adapter for ipod touch, therefore have to use the white one that came with the ipod touch (looks a bit odd with black dock)
- No standby mode as far as I can see. Blue light remains on front regardless of whether iPod is docked or not. Would have been nice to have an on off switch on the back of the unit.
- No audio/video cables included, however uses standard connectors so not a big issue
I haven't tried synching through the dock as my computer is not near my hifi.
Logic 3 dock.......2007-12-27
I have 2 of these units and both stopped working on remote control. It wouldnt change albums or playlist.

Beware the lack of leads.......2007-11-30
I received this for a birthday present assuming it would have everything it needed to get me up and running in the box. However it is virtually useless as it comes with absolutely nothing-you literally get the dock and adapters so any ipod can be used with it. Other than that you can't connect it to anything until you have bought all the leads. That is why I have given it 2 stars as it is a nice idea in principle but only if you have all the leads that are necessary. Otherwise you are shelling out alot of money for a few bits of plastic.
Get the newer model.......2007-09-21
There is a newer model on Apple's website, that has a remote control included, can navigate playlists, and supports the iPod Classic/Touch. If you have one of those newer models then check it out (haven't seen it on Amazon yet)
very fragile socket connections.......2007-08-10
I am about to buy my 3rd one as all of them have had connection sockets at the back which rather quickly (less than a year) failed and loose faulty contacts started happening.
Not the quality or fragile product I would expect from Apple and certainly not at that price for something which basically is a plug connector...
NOT an apple TV replacement.......2007-06-11
I think I read here someone who was satisfied with this dock as an apple TV replacement. I would just like to comment that such a claim is a bit misleading as this dock does not allow to navigate the menus of the ipod with the apple remote. The only functionality available with this dock and the apple remote alone is play/pause, prev./next track, vol. up/down. It is NOT possible to change playlist/film without using the ipod itself (i.e. the "menu" button on the remote does not work with the dock).
Other than that I am satisfied with design, build and packaging. I would have however considered other docks if I had known about the lack of remote interaction...
I will remind again that this does NOT come with cables, and does NOT come with the apple remote.
Strangely Essential Yet Practically Useless.......2007-06-10
I imagine that most people who buy an iPod, end up buying an Apple iPod Universal Dock. It's strangely essential yet practically useless. It's one of those things that you HAVE to have, yet you don't need. All it really does is hold your iPod in an upright position, making it look neater on your desk. As with every product of course, there are pros and cons to the Universal Dock...
Pros:
- It looks nice
- It's heavy, so it will stay where you put it
- It has an Infrared sensor on the front, so you can control the docked iPod with an Apple Remote
- It has a Line Out socket on the back, so you can connect the docked iPod to a speaker system
- It has an S-video Out socket on the back, so you can connect the docked iPod to a TV for video playback
Cons:
- It doesn't really support the iPod, making the docked iPod awkward to use in it
- It's only available in white, not black
- It costs £25, which is a good 20% of the cost of a 4GB iPod Nano!
- It doesn't come with ANY cables, such as an iPod Dock Connector (an extra £15)
- It doesn't come with an Apple Remote (an extra £19)
- A Universal Dock, Dock Connector and Remote cost £59 in total. Mmmm, what great value!

Keep your eyes on the road!!!!!.......2007-07-22
I suppose it depends on what type of car that you have to see how you best get use out of the Logic MIP166K FM Transmitter Dock. In my case the dock is right in the way of the gear stick which makes driving a nuisance . Also because of where the cigarette lighter is on my car the dock keeps on falling out all the time - so not only is driving a nuisance it's dangerous. I know that there are better Ipod transmitter's at a little extra cost but I would seriously think about paying a little more for something that isn't dangerous to use. In it's defence if you drive an automatic car or if your cigarette lighter is in a good position then it shoudn't be a problem for you but for me it's downright dangerous.
Not so hot.......2007-06-29
I've nothing against which to compare this, but if it's better than any others then that's not great. Plus points are that it's easy to use, it fits in my car OK and it hokds my iriver no problems. Bad points are: the volume - you have to turn the radio on loud to hear it, a bit of interference, sound is a bit 'thin', and I can't charge my mp3 and play at the same time - as when I plug in the charger it thinks it's connected to a computer and goes into transfer mode. So it might work OK with Ipods but it isn't really the thing for anything else.
Much cheaper than the alternatives but not great quality.......2007-05-09
I'd mostly ditto what the previous reviewer's have said. The technology seems to work fine - the unit seems to transmit and charge fine. I've had problems finding an unused frequency in London but that'll be the same for any products which transmit via radio in a heavily built up area.
Given that the technology bit works fine I found the design of the cradle flawed. The connection from the lighter plug to the main cradle is only jointed so that you can tilt the unit up and down. You can't twist the unit left and right so if your cigarette lighter is anywhere near the gearstick then you're in danger of fouling the gear movement. I found that the arms, while being designed to shift in and out to accommodate different sizes of ipod don't have much tension in them (without a strategically placed elastic band).
If you want a cheap cradle, and are prepared to accommodate a couple of foibles then go for this product. The (better designed) alternatives were much more expensive when I was looking.
Good piece of kit, full of quality features, but large with it........2007-05-02
First I should say that this piece of equipment has a very good feature set and seems to work very well. It was easy to get working and the quality of signal so far (first few days of use) has been very good. Should that change I will repost with details.
I bought this for an audio project of mine because of all the things it said it could do. They have not exaggerated. I don't use an iPod, but can play music from my PDA through the jack, while keeping the GPS charged with the mini-usb (it really sucks battery on long journeys). The transmitter does it's job well, I immediately found a free frequency and there was no interference or hiss, nor did I have to put the volume right up. Scanning in 0.1mHz intervals means that even in crowded airspaces you'll find a free one. The range available to choose from was even better than my car radio could pick up!!
A possible drawback is the amount of space it takes up. Despite not being that much bigger than a large cradle, the lighter adapter is really long! Not too much of a problem for me since I was going to cut it up anyway, but it sticks out a good 4" which would have got in the way of my gear stick. Bear this in mind when purchasing, will it fit with your layout?
My cigarette lighter wasn't the best place for a cradle either as it was down by my feet. Although you can tilt it up and down, you can't sideways to get a better view. That was for an PDA screens, I guess an mp3 player is not as difficult. The cradle arms aren't sprung either which made keeping hold of a weighty PDA difficult.
As I said, I was cutting it up anyway. However without the serious adapter, the wiring underneath was a little fragile, probably not a problem with the armour plating left on. I will be extending the power wires to have a hub in the arm rest. So far it's looking like it will work well and be simple enough.
I found it difficult finding out precisely what connectors where included, so to save you the gamble here it is:
- built it standard 30-pin iPod connector with short lead
- 3.5mm female port, 2.5mm male to 3.5mm male 50cm cable included (not best quality)
- standard usb power-only port, standard to mini 'D' usb 50cm cable included (or use your own)
All-in-all I am very pleased with this purchase.
LOGIC3 MIP166K FM TRANSMITTER DOCK.......2007-01-27
Great item , plugged my Ipod video in ,tuned in a frequency and the sound was crisp from my radio!! (fits nano's too .. sussed out that you pull the sides out for the larger Ipod videos)
Coupled with the fact that the ipod sits in the docking holder so you can angle your ipod facing you is the icing on the cake :)
Noted that this item was the cheapest price wise I found right here on amazon!

Customer Reviews:
Good build quality.......2007-11-22
Was pleasantly surprised when I received this.
The build quality is excellent. Almost as nice as Apple's dock but... half the price.
The remote resembles the apple one, but not quite as nice, but more than adequate.
The back of the dock has a line out (for connecting to your stereo) and the standard ipod socket.
It comes with three inserts that cover most ipods - but you can't use inserts supplied by apple so beware.
In all, great value and not as tacky as other docks out there. Highly recommended.
