Good quality printing but not very economical.......2007-09-27
This printer prints very good quality photographs and DVD/CD labels. It is also a very quiet printer.
However it is very bulky and the ink cartridges don't last long at all. I printed 35 copies of a poster and had to change the light cyan cartridge twice!
Great quality when it is working.......2007-08-28
This is a great printer, when it works. All too often i find it tells me that i have something jammed, when i don't, or it decides that it does not fancy printing a dvd because it thinks that the tray is in the wrong position, when it isn't. And as it has to re charge the inks every time it does this, its an expensive process with Epson inks at £35 a throw. If the new+ compatibles inks work then id give it half a star more. Fantastic quality on printing discs when it works though. Also cheap at under £45 and a no quibble replacement guarantee for an extra fiver at PC world, wish id bought from there like my pal did (Doh)
Good printer.......2007-08-18
After a little debate and reading everyone's reviews (some good some bad) I decided to purchase this printer. To be honest I have not been disappointed as yet (apart from the fact it didn't have a male USB A-B cable to connect it to your printer)
I noticed a few people did not like the txt but I find it fine, on the odd occasion there may be the slightest of bleeds (and I mean only slight) but lets face facts unless you spend a lot of money on a laser printer there will always be slight bleeding issues. On draft it's perfect for home use and work also.
One of the main reasons I bought this was for the CD/DVD and again very happy with the results. Some people have commented on the draw sticking or jamming but so far so good.
Last but not least the ink issue for what it is and the actual size of the cartridges I think you get your moneys worth well at least I do anyway I mean yes if I were to print highly detailed pictures on a DVD the ink would disappear but that's the same on every printer. (Also if you look hard enough and can find a full set for £14.95 now that's value for money)
I would recommend this printer for everyday users as it performs all of its tasks quite well photos, txt, DVD all very respectful.
The best CD printer for under £200.......2007-08-09
I bought this printer only for CD printing. I have not been disappointed, this printer is amazing, the backups I have made are as good if not better than the originals. Best £50 I ever spent. Well worth the money.
Just Smashed Mine To Bits.......2007-07-31
Please dont buy this awful printer.
I have had problems with mine from day one.
I primarily bought this printer to print on cd`s and when i first installed the printer i had problems with it,first i got a general error and followed all the advice on the manual and on the website,(i do think i bought a faulty printer)the print quality is great on cd`s but i found that when printing i was always having to guide the cd tray gently into the printer or it would not print and come up as an error.
Also stated in previous reviews here is the fact that the printer seems to eat the ink and within a few prints the ink tanks are almost empty.
well tonight after putting up with this crap for 14 months i lost the plot and threw the printer outside where it smashed on my driveway,,,,this is how much this printer drove me insane(i dont usually have a temper).
Please avoid this printer at all cost,,
Epson if you are reading this then please challenge me,awful printer and expensive cartridgies.

Epson are a Rip-Off.......2007-06-29
After my Epson R220 recently, unexpectedly and above all, 'SUSPICIOUSLY' stopped working, I decided to find another CD/DVD capable printer.... Googling came up with a few choices, Epson R220, R230, R265 and the some of the Canon Pixma range...
Stupidly following brand loyalty, I purchased an Epson R265.
BIG, BIG MISTAKE.
I do a lot of printing, and considering the extortionate ink prices set by Epson (and others, to be fair), I purchased a 'Continuous inking system' (CISS) to complement my set-up.
BUT IT DOESN'T WORK. This is because recently (Post April 1st- a very apt date I think), Epson have programmed the R265 printer not to accept any compatible inks... Nice one EPSON. So, I now have wasted in the region of £120 on this set-up all because EPSON are a greedy, rip-off company.
Since when was a law set that states compatible inks are illegal??!! Whatever happened to 'healthy competition' from cheaper manufacturers??
Plus aren't epson breaking the law by monopolising the 'consumables' market for their products??
(Oh, the new Claria 'wonder inks' only seem to work with Epsons paper too! The brand of gloss paper I used caused this ink to smudge and lie in wet droplets on the surface..)
Epson, I hope you read this because you have just lost a customer now on their third and most definitely last Epson model... but above all I hope you lose a load more potential customers who may take heed reading this review.
P.s. Oh, I will buy an Epson R265 chip resetter and put the original chips on my CISS system to circumvent Epsons stupid, vindictive and money-grabbing new scheme and to salvage something from this horrible experience... I hope this annoys Epson even further.
Hello Canon, you just may have found a new disciple.
Great Printer - but very very expensive to run.......2007-06-18
If you want a great printer that will also print on printable CD's & DVDs then this is a great printer-
BUT new R265 printers have a chip that stops compatible cartridges working - in fact the whole machine will lock up. A set of cartridges will cost you nearly the cost of the machine - it will probably be cheaper for me to scrap my brand new printer as I use a lot of ink. This stupid security chip also stops me flushing out the heads with a cleaner cartridge.
Also beware that Epson printers have a habit of telling you that it has exceeding its life cycle and dies - it is scrap - though to be fair that is after a fair amount of work. If you don't mind expensive ink this is the machine for you.
