The scanner is good but the software to operate it is well below parr, it scanns ths doc's but trims it too much at times and when printing a scanned doc trims off top or bottom or sides if saved as a pdf file. To overcome I have to save the pdf file as a doc file then its all fine. The printer drinks ink, I am not actually sure but u might only get 10-15 pages of full colour A4, if not run out getting there. Printer operation a bit clanky noisewise, overall a regretted purchase.
Rx560.......2007-05-24
I bought this printer last week and have tried all the functions out, and have found it to perform them quickly and efficiently without hassle. My favourite function to date is the print from memory card with redeye removal. Also setting up the printer was easy with simple and clear instructions for the installation and a full set of instructions for the other uses of the printer.
The software provided is easy to use and does exactly what it says it should without the need for loads of bells and whistles.
This printer itself came with all the leads needed and a full set of ink cartridges that in its self very good.

I have had this printer for 4 days now and I am totally over the moon with it.
Firstly, it is really easy to install. It took me about 20 minute following the "idiot proof" instructions. The whole installation process for me was totally painless. Note that the printer comes with ink (although these need to be installed), so you don't have to buy the ink seperatly.
After installation I really wanted to see how good the photo print quality was. They give you some "premium quality glossy photo paper" with the printer (5x7in). Despite having not read the instructions I found the system really intuitive to use. I was amazed at how fast the printer produced photos (roughly 30 seconds/page), which to be frank, looked like they had been produced in a photo lab. The colours were vibrant, smooth and detailed. The gloss effect from the paper was impressive too.
I was also curious to see how black text would turn out on standard paper.
Again printing was very fast at about 4 seconds per page. The quality of the print was good although not as crisp as that of a laser printer. However, I have yet to test text printing using higher quality paper, I expect the results would improve accordingly.
The scanner function was the next thing to be tested. Again the system and software were intuitive, so I didn't have to read the instructions to use this function. Yet again I was impressed, with both texts and photos remaining faithfull to the original.
To summarise, I love it! Easy to use and produces quality prints/scans. At this price too you can't go wrong. Buy Buy Buy.
Very Good Printer.......2007-01-03
I bought this printer for a friend after reading the review.I was a bit sceptical at first about it being as good as it sounded.I helped my friend set it up as was amazed even before i got round to connecting it to his computer at qaulity of the pictures it gave out.Using memory card just by the of chance decided to print one of the pictures that was on to see how good it was.Normally setting up a printer you normally have to do test pages on this case it was just a gamble to see what happened but it was worth it.The other amzing thing just to let people know is that you can use bluetooth with the printer(not had a chance to try).The scanner works great to(when you put the page you are copying in the right way).The reason I have gave this a four star rating is because of the installation disc.It might be 1 in a million chance but the disc that came with the printer some how has a viruse on it and would not install so had to use the Epson web site to get the software to be able to use the printer using the computer other than that the printer is very good and worth the chance to invest in.

I bought this last week and am over the moon with it. Simple to set up, simple to operate. Great photos with lifelike skin tones. Had read a review while trying to find a good photoprinter and the review sold me. Also a copier and scanner. Havent had it long enough to use it fully yet but for photos it is superb. My previous printer was an Epson albeit a cheap basic one that lasted about 7 years. It is also a stand alone photo printer that can print direct from mobile phones as well as digital cameras. Photo from mobile camera was superb couldnt believe it had been taken on phone.
If you are looking for a home printer that can print photos get this!

I have recently been looking for a printer that would print off excellent photos and also cds, and I found it!!!! The EPSON STYLUS PHOTO RX585. I understand that the printer does shake a little when printing, but this has no adverse effect to the printing quality of the photos. The rx585 prints are outstanding for a versatile 3 in 1 printer. From my personal experience an all round good buy!!!!

I have owned several all in one printers including Brother,Kodak, lexmark, Canon and i can honestly say the Epson RX585 beats them all. First rate printing and today did some dvd printing without any problems i just followed the manual and it was very easy. I also like the smartmedia etc is covered by a drop down flap stops dust etc. The only critism is it's a big printer but not as big as the kodak all in one.
Just follow the manual and instructions and you will be delighted by this printer.

don't believe everything you read!!!, i bought this printer in november,after set up the first picture was low quality and banded badly but after going through all the settings ie set the machine too its best setting and select the proper paper type for photos it now prints excellent photos right up to a4 size with no problems at all, READ THE INSTRUCTIONS!!!!!
appalling problem, rubbish customer service.......2007-11-23
I purchased this printer expecting it to do everything I wished it to do, nothing outstanding, just print from my files, internet etc. Being a training consultant I needed it to print transparencies - it does not. I also use a wireless USB adapter which has worked perfectly well with any other printer I have used - this one does not. If the printer is connected it knocks the internet connection out. Basically it is useless to me. Having spoken at great length to Epson customer services (not receiving the phone back call they promised!) it is clear that they have no interest in their customers, just want to make sales.
Do yourself a favour, don't purchase from Epson, especially don't purchase the DX8450.
Don't buy this printer - unfit for purpose.......2007-11-14
Epson have a reputation for 'banding' (lines across the printed page) and this is one of the worst - it's useless for photographs. No matter how many times you align the heads, clean them etc etc the banding ruins your prints. The machine shudders and shakes as it prints and is very noisy. Espon themselves appear to deny the banding problem and pointed me at a repair shop 60 miles away from my home. I returned the printer to where I bought it and bought a Canon MP600 instead. (It's great!)

Looks like the originals and were recongisned first time in my new rx685. I have tried Inkrite which did not work. Print quality excellent on photo paper and costs less the the epson originals.

this product is a false economy as my epson rx560 will only accept some of the cartridges and the ones which worked were used in less than a dozen sheets of A4
