Perfectly fine printer cable.......2007-09-10
Not a lot you can write about a printer cable. Belkin are the masters of covering their packaging with claims of gold contacts and superb transfer speeds, to be honest I haven't the time or the inclination to test these claims. All I can say is, I attached it to my computer, then to the printer and printed a test page, which came off fine and I've been using it ever since.
The build quality is nice too, a good cable all round.

Problems.......2007-10-01
Nice looking hub, when working it functions very well...reads my sd card at lightning speeds! Very Impressed with that side of it, however! Every time I turn my computer off..when I turn it back on again it some how goes off line! Got to pull the plug out and re insert it for computer to recognise it again...very annoying!
Mac users beware.......2007-08-22
Using this on my Mac (G5 tower), I found that the connection would occasionally degrade to USB 1.1, making card imports painfully slow. Worse, within the last month, the unit has been unexpectedly dropping the connection for a few seconds at random, causing my keyboard and mouse to temporarily become unresponsive, and cards and connected USB devices to unexpectedly dismount. This behaviour has culminated in complete system crashes on several occasions.
I have now dumped this device and will be replacing it with a USB hub and separate card reader--from a different manufacturer, naturally.
Use with Vista.......2007-06-18
Not sure whether it is Vista causing the problem but be careful that this device is not left plugged into the mains as it may cause you not to be able to switch on your PC from cold. Switch it on later

I have owned one of these for a number of years and the biggest card in it to date has been a 1gb compact flash.I have now upgraded my camera and have been trying to get it to read a 2gb sandisk extreme 3 SD tonight to no avail,thought it must be the extreme 3 bit causing the trouble as it has more contacts on it but after reading the reviews on here i realise its the size of card causing the problem! I have been happy with the reader up until now though,it makes no difference if you upgrade the driver.This is an odd problem because the USB ports work fine with a corsair GT 4 gb flash drive.

I can't fault this media reader. It's fast, supports XD cards which is a bonus and I've had no problems with 4GB compact flash cards at all. Its slick, small and looks good. Highly recommended.

As USB hubs go, this product is fine it accepts 4 USB 2 devices, with indication lights on the front so you can see which ports are connected. The power supply also helps with my laptop, which doesn't appear to be able to power my external hard drive (freecom) stand alone, but when I use the laptop, USB Hub and drive it works fine.
The only slight moan is that it is hard to tell which indicator lamp is for which port when it is at the back of your desk.

I connected the hub to my laptop running Windows XP - it was easier done than said! No software drivers needed to be installed and all leads supplied with the hub. All my USB 1.0/1.1 devices (digital camera, notebook light and printer) were instantly recognised and run perfectly....then....I plug in my new Canon Lide 50 USB 2.0 scanner. Looking through the manual of the scanner it states that extra software is required to route it via a hub and this software is available through Microsoft (an XP update) or Adaptec for free. Well I've got all the necessary updates and the scanner just causes problems when connected to this hub so now I have to connect my scanner directly to my computer. Not a huge problem but most people buy a hub because they want all of their USB devices connected all the time, my point being - the hub is great value for money but check what you are going to plug into it first as it is NOT compatible with everything.

I only had 2 USB ports on my machine and with a USB modem, network card & scanner was beginning to struggle. I also had another annoying problem in that the network card and modem couldn't be connected to the USB ports at the same time or connection would keep dropping.
The Belkin hub allows me to keep all devices connected and with no connection problems. The hub was detected automatically by Windows 2000 and worked perfectly straight away.
The only small problem with the hub, is that for certain devices you have to restart your computer for the hub to work with them, if you connect them while its already on. The only exception I have found is my 128mb USB storage/pen drive which will work without a restart.

The Belkin Hi-Speed USB 2.0 4-Port Hub is simplicity itself.
Installation was easy to follow and worked effortlessly on my Windows XP Pro machine, the USB lead which connect the PC to the USB hub is a little on the short side for my liking and wouldn't reach to convenient location on my desk but it works just as well on top of my PC case.
On the front of the hub you'll find a red power light and several green lights when a USB device is attached and working which allows easy identification of what ports you're using.
Supplied with a power adaptor which means you're not drawing more power from your computer, as technology advances and requires more power to operate this is a must.
Once set up and you've plugged your USB devices in the back you'll soon forget its there which is in my opinion how all good technology should work.

Firstly I would like to say WHAT a GREAT SERVICE, ordered mid morning arrived the following morning. NEXT the hub is a great piece of kit but would be better if it allowed the option of being able to plug directly onto M/Board. Most boards now have the 9pin usb socket. Easy to install and use within 5mins, although you would be best pluging into your boards external USB port and not a PCI usb card.
2 USB2 or not 2 USB2.......2005-07-19
Hmmm... four port USB2 hub that fits neatly in a spare 3.5" drive bay - I'll have one of those thanks!
And here's where we hit the first problem - the hub requires connection to another USB2 port to work. Maybe I didn't read the spec sheet well enough, but I would've expected an INTERNAL hub to connect directly to my motherboard, not to have to have a USB cable snaking out through an open PCI expansion slot and plugging into one of my valuable USB slots at the rear of my PC (which was the reason for this purchase in the first place).
Okay, it works when you do this, but it looks a mess. The hub is powered by a floppy drive power cable too, so make sure you've got one spare - or 4-pin IDE power lead and an adapter at any rate.

Up and running in minutes.......2007-12-20
I was running out of USB slots on the back of my iMac and this little device solved the problem in minutes. Literally plug and play. Included in the pack is a USB lead to connect the hub to your computer and a power adaptor. There's a slot on the top to re-charge your iPod shuffle (the picture looks like the older model of Shuffle). It is very light-weight and could get knocked off a desk-top, but that's a minor minus point. It looks stylish and co-ordinates with Mac computers.

Over all this product is very good.
It comes with a power adapter that isn't mentioned in the specs which means that it can support higher draw accessories such as external HD's and cameras all plugged in at once.
The design is very attractive when compared to some of the other products on offer but one thing I would say is that it's too light. What I mean by this is that if you have it resting on the rear edge of a desk like I do to save space then the cables attached will try and pull the hub off of the back, it doesn't however because of the rubber feet but it ends up at a 20 odd degree angle; it could do with a chunk of metal in the front to give it some more mass.
All in all, very pleased and I would recommend.
