Not SLC.......2008-01-11
The Manufacturer's review for this memory card states that this is an SLC type card. It was in actual fact, the MLC type which is slower and less robust. The actual Transcend product number (check their website for reliable info) is TS4GSDHC6.
On a more positive note, delivery was quick and the price was cheap, even when you take into account the sneaky postage costs (which incidentally, aren't refundable should you have a problem).
Fantastic value.......2008-01-01
I've got a couple of these cards for use in my Canon Ixus 860 IS camera and I've had absolutely no problems with either of them. This card is more than fast enough to handle video and photos (continuous shooting mode) at the highest quality without the camera having to pause while it writes to the card (video at 2MB/s and photos at 3-4 MB/s).
As mentioned by previous reviewers, there are compatibility issues with SDHC cards and older SD devices (as in the cards don't work in them) so check before buying one of these cards.
Overall, fantastic value for money.
To M.Stevens: this is SDHC not SD.......2007-10-30
One star from the previous reviewer is in my opinion way too harsh: this is an SDHC card, not SD, it is not backwards compatible and might not be suitable for use in some card readers and older devices that do not support SDHC. If you bear that in mind, this card is great value for money.
Great in the camera but not in the computer.......2007-10-12
I bought this, because as the owner of an architectural practice, we tend to take lots of high quality photos.....the card is great in the Panasonic Lumix camera......however, none of my laptops (either Windows or Mac based) will recognise the card unless it is in the camera, and we tend to use card readers rather than plugging the camera into the computer.
A 2GB SD Card works perfectly well and takes around 700 photos at high quality.

Panasonic today introduced the Lumix DMC-LX2, successor to the DMC-LX1, which has received high acclaim worldwide for its unique 16:9 wide CCD, plentiful functions, and smart design. The DMC-LX2 inherits the f/2.8 28mm wide angle LEICA DC lens, 4x optical zoom (equivalent to 28mm to 112mm on a 35mm film camera) and MEGA O.I.S. (Optical Image Stabilizer) system in addition to an enhanced CCD capable of 10.2-megapixels and larger 2.8 16:9 wide LCD.
The DMC-LX2 is unique in that it incorporates triple-wide features of 28 mm wide angle LEICA DC lens, 16:9 wide CCD and 16:9 wide LCD. Not only that, the LX2 is further distinguished from other cameras by its full manual controllability with a joystick allowing users to easily enjoy creative shooting. The DMC-LX2 also boasts Venus Engine III high performance image processing LSI to dramatically reduce the noise that challenged the predecessor, realizing image recording at max. ISO 1600 high sensitivity setting at full resolution.
To fight against the major cause of blurred images, Panasonic invented the MEGA O.I.S. system taking advantage of its superior lens technology to compensate for handshake ? a feature which has long been incorporated into the LUMIX range of cameras. In addition, to also compensate for the other major cause of blurred images ? movement of the subject ? the LX2 is also equipped with the world?s first Intelligent ISO Control (hereafter I.I.C.) within the advanced image processing LSI Venus Engine III. When set to the I.I.C., the Venus Engine III detects the subject's movement and adjusts the ISO setting and shutter speed to best suit the subject movement and the light condition automatically. Panasonic?s excellent image stabilizing system allows users to take clear, crisp images in any situat
Customer Reviews:
Great for landscapes.......2008-01-06
I'm so glad that I read between the lines of the more negative reviews and finally bought this camera. It's beautifully built, has an easy-to-use menu system, handy joystick feature, and is just big and heavy enough to feel solid in your hands.
With its genuine 16:9 widescreen images and display, and Leica optics, the LX2 is said to offer unrivalled possibilities for landscape point-and-shoot photography. (I've taken some good point-and-shoot images in the scene modes I've tried, but better ones at ISO 100 in semi-auto Program Mode.)
But it's also supposed to have a bad noise problem, and its Venus III engine a reputation for aggressive noise reduction. It wasn't a cheap camera, so am I pleased or disappointed with my purchase? Though not an experienced photographer, I offer my own impressions for what they're worth.
As regards noise, if I needed to blow images up and zoom/crop on the PC this would be an issue. But shooting at ISO 100 (or 200) in good light, for my usual postcard size images, it isn't a problem. It's certainly a pity that the camera's inbuilt noise reduction can't be switched off completely. (Only two settings are offered: High and Low. I keep my LX2 on Low all the time, but users vary as to whether it's best to keep the Saturation, Contrast and Sharpness settings low as well. This omission is the only thing which, in my view, prevents it from being a five-star camera.)
However, for those who want an alternative to in-camera JPEG output the LX2 produces RAW files. This `advanced' feature certainly gave me pause, as I didn't relish spending £250 and have to waste hours at the PC getting decent photos. (To be honest, most of my in-camera JPEGs come out well enough at ISO 100 that I can't tell much, if any, difference.) In fact, the Silkypix software supplied on the CD actually gives very good results out of the box. Just drop the Raw file in the software's window, and enjoy the default settings!
In my Amazon review of the Casio EX Z1050 I had two niggling reservations with that model: the lack of optical image stabilization, and the low-res LCD. Well, the LX2 solves both these problems with panache: the O.I.S. works a treat, and the 2.8-inch LCD is glorious. The LX2's not great in low light (I've now got a Fuji FinePix F30 refurb for that); but the 16:9 wide screen is awesome, and anyone wanting to shoot widescreen landscapes should check it out. I'm glad I did, and wouldn't want to be without it.
Superb.......2007-12-29
An absolutly superb offering from Panasonic, easy for novice with plenty of features for the more experianced.
Cannot rate it high enough although a longer zoom would be a help.
Beware of recomended accessories.......2007-12-26
The camera is good, but amazon has listed the Lowepro Rezo 20 case as an accessory for this item. Having bought this case I have found that the camera does not fit in the case as the lens has obviously not been taken into account.
Please review the camera not the supplier.......2007-10-29
Great Camera
Flexible enough for an SLR user to enjoy some creative licence over image control, yet simple enough for anyone to pick up and use as a point and shoot. I particularly like the separate flash control so that even when the camera is screaming for flash you can ignore it. The fact that the camera records in RAW format was one of the deciding factors. The other was the Leica lens.
Pixmania.......2007-09-18
The camera was delivered relativley quickly, but there were a few things that concerned me... First It would of helped if the manual was in English not French - pixmania never told me that...Secondly the battery charger came in this European plug where they provide you with an English plug...which I thought was bit strange, as I thought if I paid a little bit more and bought it in Jessops would I have encountered the same problem?
If anyone knows please let me know. Also i rate it 3 stars not for the camera but for pixmania for not providing a english manual

Customer Reviews:
Camera great but.......................2007-12-10
This camera is great little find for a technophobe like me!! If you want a camera that is idiot proof then this is the very one for you.
Easy to use and perfectly formed the only drawback is purchasing it from the Amazon seller Pixmania. They supply the instructions leaflet in French which is not much good if you are English and only have a limited use of pigeon French learnt at school. We did telephone them and their answer was that they are a French company so of course their instructions would be in French!!
You can download a user manual from their website but it did irritate me that this was not made clear at the point of purchase.
But don't let that put you off the camera which is wonderful.
First-time digital camera.......2007-05-29
Excellent beginners camera, but plenty of options for those who would like to dabble further. I looked at loads of sub £100 cameras, and this one came out on tops for most of the things I was looking for. Options include loads of pre-set exposure modes, and the ability to tinker with most settings, but also quick mode for easy setup. Buttons easy to use (even for someone like me with fat-fingers), and camera is a good size - not too bulky. Display is not massive but adequate for the purpose. Battery life was disappointing though, so invest in rechargeables.

Customer Reviews:
Excellent choice.......2008-01-03
Excellent phones packed with features, intuitive menu system & attractive design. Only negative comments which are very minor include screen too bright when left on the base overnight on the bedside table (I just take it off the base at night to disable the backlight) and the dreadful ringtones! There are about 4 or 5 out of 20 which are acceptable. Otherwise, genuine value for money product from a good and reliable manufacturer.
Does what it says on the box!.......2007-10-30
I've been using this phone now for some months and find it excellent in almost all respects. The hands-free (loudspeaker) function is first class, with good sound. I've never had a Panasonic telephone before, but would recommend very highly. The "lit up" handset might be a pest if one was using the phone in (say) a darkened bedroom, but it is not a problem elsewhere.
Almost Perfect.......2007-09-29
This phone is very good. The speech clarity is excellent, though not so clear on messages left on the answering machine!
The process of setting up and loading names and numbers into the phone book is fairly straight-forward. Strangely, though, the numbers are stored in each individual handset. It would have made more sense for the store to be in the base unit. The numbers once loaded into one handset can easily be copied across to the other, BUT the business of putting certain numbers in certain categories with their own special ring-tones has to be carried out on each phone separately. This categorisation does not get copied across from one handset to the other. This is a bit disappointing in a phone with so many sensible features.
Also, I may be nit-picking but, I'd have liked to see, on the base unit, a display (large and clear) of the number of new messages received. (Our base unit is just inside the front door.) This information is shown on the handsets, but a handset may not always be in the immediate vicinity - they are cordless after all, and do tend to walk!
Some of the handset functions are not readily accessible, however, with so many of them, perhaps it's churlish not to expect to have to go through a few sub-menus.
In spite of these reservations, I have to say that, once the whole thing is set up, it's excellent for day-to-day use.
four stars plus.......2007-08-27
I bought this phone to replace my old Panasonic phone, which was sometimes difficult to hear. This one has really clear, loud reception, specially using the voice enhancer feature. The speaker phone is excellent - people cannot even tell that you are using it. The menus are easy to use, and the battery seems to last very long between charges. Having a 200 name memory is great, and as I have Caller Display I can always see who is phoning me.
Contrary to what someone else said, you can set the answerphone to flash when there is a message - no problems there, and the answerphone is really easy to use, whether you listen to your messages at the base station or on the handset.
I have two minor complaints. One is that the handsets are quite large, and although they are comfortable to hold they look quite old-fashioned. The other is the opposite of what others have said: I don't like the fact that the screen switches itself off (to conserve battery life, I'm sure). I like to be able to see the screen at all times, and used my old one as a portable clock! This one only stays on when it is in its stand.
Having said that, the real point of a telephone is to make and receive calls, and this does the job excellently.
Happy... so far :).......2007-06-13
I have just bought this phone to replace my misbehaving old one from a different manufacturer, so my review can only contain my first impressions. (One of them being that the price dropped by almost a fiver after I bought it. Oh well.)
There is not much to add to what the previous posts said about the functionality. The menu is quite intuitive and the only time I had to refer to the manual was to find out how to access the answering machine remotely (only to find that it was as easy as everything else).
I also find the permanently lit display when on the charger a bit distracting, but yes, you can just take it off for the night (you can also define a period when the phone does not accept incoming calls - very nice!).
One objection I may have is to the handset design. It looks very square and modern on the pictures, but the pictures do not show the back which is very rounded, making the whole thing look rather thick and not as ergonomic as my old phone. Nevertheless, appearances are deceptive and the handset is surprisingly easy to hold, although I would prefer the display a bit recessed so you do not press it against the side of your had during the call.
The keyboard is much better than the phones I have had before. You can definitely feel the press of the buttons. Having the keys backlit is also a big advantage.
All in all, I am happy with purchase. Now I am waiting to see what happens in a few years' time: I have had two DECT phones from a different manufacturer before and both started misbehaving in the same way after about two years of use. This time I bought a Panasonic and hope it will last for at least as long as my parents', who have one (also cordless, but analogue) that has worked for about 15 years already and is still going strong.

Product Description
The 7.2 megapixel DMC-FX12 features a bright f/2.8 LEICA DC VARIO-ELMARIT lens with 3x optical zoom. The high quality Leica DC lens carries on the proud tradition of its famous Leica brand, the German camera maker renowned for lenses that combine superb performance with compact size. Comprising seven elements in six groups, including three lenses with three aspherical surfaces, this advanced lens unit matches Leica's stringent standards and delivers an exceptional optical performance.
The zoom ratio can be extended up to 4.5x in 3 megapixel resolution mode with minimal deterioration thanks to the Extra Optical Zoom. By using the central part of the CCD, this powerful zooming function allows you to easily capture and magnify distant subjects.
Jitter from handshake is far and away the biggest single cause of blurry shots. Lumix cameras help solve this problems with an advanced optical image stabilising system Panasonic's ingenious MEGA Optical Image Stabiliser (OIS). This system uses built-in gyrosensors to detect even tiny camera movement and then shifts a lens in the opposite direction to compensate, giving you sharp, clear images without deterioration.
While hand-shake is the single biggest cause of blurry images, it is not the only one. Another problem is the motion blur that can occur when a subject moves as the shot is being taken, particularly common when taking pictures of sports or young children for example. In these conditions Intelligent ISO Control comes into its own. This system actually detects whether the subject is moving and, as necessary raises the ISO setting and shutter speed according to how fast the subject is moving and the light conditions. This happens automatically, so you can effortlessly shoot without the need to adjust the settings every time the conditions change.
Customer Reviews:
Panasonic DMC-FX12EB-S Digital Camera.......2007-11-18
Upon first opening the box and looking at the camera, I began to feel pleased. There were little things about the 'build quality' that I liked. Little things, like the 'on' 'off' switch, which slid from side to side. The way that the memory card and battery door opened, and also of how the USB cable connected. All these little things were far superior to the way it was on the Sony Cybershot I'd just returned because it had malfunctioned within a month.
Confidence was beginning to be restored, and I began to click away! The camera is easy to use, but what about the quality of the pictures? I have taken many pictures of beautiful scenery on dull days, glowing night skies, items to sell on Ebay, and of course, my favourite people. I have not been disappointed and am really pleased with the results.
Before the disappointing Sony Cybershot which I returned, I had been using a Casio for 3 years, which gave good results, but this Panasonic Lumix Digital camera is a joy to use, with results that are always better than you would expect. Also the long life battery does not take long to recharge, which means that it is not essential to have a spare. The camera comes complete whith battery charger and all connection leads, etc.
I'm glad to say that we are very happy together!
Panasonic Lumix DMC-FX12 Digital Camera.......2007-09-03
First thing that impresses you about this camera id the size. It's tiny and would comproftably into the back or shirt pocket.
Outdoor pictures are excellent. Anti-shake and mega optical stablisers really help when it's long exposure shots in darker places (it greatly helps in macro shots too).
It has neary 30 pre-set picture modoes for every occasion (i.e. starry night, night portraite, night scenery, scenery, portrait etc.)
It also has Baby1 Baby2 and Pet modes for you to inlcude their birthdays/ages on the pictures.
Holiday date allows you set date to start of your holiday and it can inlude the holiday days in the picture i.e. 1st day, 2nd day etc.
You can buy a marine case which will allow you to take this underwater and there is a mode for this too.
It takes 4:3, 3:2 or 16:9 pictures so that they can be displayed nicely on widescreen TVs.
The other nice touches is extra optical zoom. Depending on the picture quality you can increase the optical zoom to higher levels which will come handy if you need to zoom in further.
It comes with it's cahrger and batteries and they last fairly long time (quoted 300 snaps).
The video option is great as it takes better than DVD qulaity videos which is Quicktime (unlike motion-jpeg which is difficult to find editing software for) and also camera can include short audio messages to still pictures.
Chromatic abberations and other optical problems dosn't seem to affect this camera which is a big bonus.
All in all a tremendeously competent and delightful compact digital camera.
Recommended.
