software issues.......2007-12-31
The software that comes with the flash drive does not always work in some pc's as you may have comflicting programs so you may not be able to transfer files from different systems it does seem to work well with vista and has a handy password protection to secure files if it conflicts in your computer I have read from others you maybe able to by-pass the software issue by deleting the software its clever but dodgy. Not recommended.
Be Careful!.......2007-12-19
Before you buy, I would suggest reading up on the problems with the U3 software. When i plug in the drive, it seizes my pc every time within about 5 seconds, and this is apparently a common problem. You can un-install the software, but the drive needs to be plugged in to do it - immediately rendering your pc useless. Sandisk support is painfully inadequate, so if you just want some portable storage, buy something without the U3 software!
Lifetime's Photos.......2007-11-27
I have always used slides since the 1960s. That is a lot of photos. I have scanned them all on to my PC, thousands of them, and thence into just 2 cruzer sticks. The slide boxes now take up space in the loft and not in my study.
Product Description
The new ultra-small memory card is designed to meet the growing storage needs of highly compact, multifunctional mobile phones.
An 'M2' adaptor in the size of a standard Memory Stick will allow users to exchange data to Memory Stick PRO compatible products.
The ?M2? media is approximately one-quarter the volume of ?Memory Stick PRO Duo? media, yet only about 1.2mm thick. ?M2? media is designed as an externally removable media with a controlled eject function to prevent users losing the media. Following the trend of mobile phones which operate at 1.8 volts, the ?M2? has been designed as dual-voltage media. In addition to 1.8 volt support, the media offers 3.3 volt operation which is required for existing ?Memory Stick PRO? compatible products.

great for sony ericsson w580i.......2007-12-07
fits great in my sony ericsson w580i:)you have 2G mp3 player in your mobile for £16 :) amazing :) the cheapest ever:)
nice.......2007-11-22
very nice memory stick. quick transfer and loads into my mobile instantly.
great for storing music and photo's on your mobile phone.
product good... .......2007-10-18
i got 3 ordered and paid the postal charge for each unit. I thot since a good company, they will send seperately, as they charged seperately, But all three were send in one pack and they paid only for one package and cahrging me three times for package. This is very unfair. Amazon should take care on this. if it is charged then they shud implement or shud return me the remaining amount
Micro SD card.......2007-10-01
£5.50. it tiny and weighs about 5grams so how can they charge you so much for such a tiny thing. I find offence! grrr
Great little card.......2007-08-23
Works like a charm.
Those of you complaining about the delivery charges - that applies to all the sellers on here, and is an Amazon stipulation IIRC because it's under "electronics and photographs". Any of you who have ever sold on here will know that you can't change the delivery/postage charges. Probably worth talking to Amazon about this, not criticising the sellers.

Customer Reviews:
Works fine but poor build quality.......2008-01-15
Apart from the usual anoyance of the U3 applications (now deleted) the card works well, In my opinion it does however have a cheap and rather naff feel about it, not what I was expecting from Sandisk, still it does the job,
Ok if you have no choice.......2007-10-08
Given a choice the Titanium is a much better physical build than this and is probably worth a slight premium.
Like many others I have wiped the U3 off - it offers me little benefit and the first insertion tends to mount two drives which upsets my desktop computer!
Price point for 2 Gb is fine, if only it didn't rattle!
Not that good.... just average.......2007-08-10
I was suprised at how big this is considering it doesnt have a lid, my previous USB key which I lost was smaller and prettier, this thing is ugly and distracting plugged into the side of my laptop - it has a big, uneven and flickering orange light. It also rattles and doesn't have a very solid feel.
The U3 software is pretty lame; just a glorified bundle, so I wiped it off.
Great!!!!!.......2007-04-28
Cheap and Easy to use. you can't ask for much more. The transfer rate is lightning quick and the clever sliding usb key makes it much safer to have in pockets. I use it in any PC and Macs and it works perfectly!
The U3 software although clever is highly annoying. the Software used to autorun all the time and would slow down the rate at which the computer recognises it. The software is removable though.
I would reccomend this product to anyone!
This truly is the gnats K***** just what we have been waiting for .......2007-03-09
This is the simplest and most secure way of file saving I have seen. Load up U3 create your documents using the free open office package (which even loads up windows files using the wizard) or photo files on any machine operating directly from your U3, save the file and undock the U3 and nothing is on the machine its all on your stick. I even have my own wall paper and work directly from my U3.There are more free programs to download at the Sandisk U3 portable site. No more saving it on the computer, its mine and with me all the time anywhere I go, and its password protected!! MAGIC

Long start up, some features rubbish.......2008-01-12
Having seen all reviews I went for this one when it was £25.
Transfer speeds quick
Doesn't recognise my 2gb micro sd card and simply stops working when I insert it.
Continually reset for no reason until I updated firmware.
Seems unable to view all tracks by an artist listing albumns only and saying "no song" when view all is selected.
Charging takes ages but battery also lasts for ages.
To bulky for uSB to be used on a computer where elads are close together above or below. e.g mac mini
Good play back.
Cheap and Cheerful manly.
Five stars...eventually!.......2007-12-18
First of all ignore any reviews that complain this model doesn't have an FM radio - it's clear that it doesn't - buy the other model if that's what you need/want.
My reason for buying this model was that it had the best overall reviews online for appearance, usability and audio quality in this price bracket (and now it's even cheaper).
Unfortunately I can't comment on the shipped headphone quality because I've left them packaged as this is a Christmas present for my daughter. I wouldn't expect them to be very good at this price though. With £30 worth of Sennheisers this MP3 player sounds truly excellent though (all MP3s at 160kbps). Switching the graphic equaliser (something I usually leave alone) to 'pop' made the sound even more full.
After the initially great first impression over sound and also user interface (the four line display is great) I came close to sending the thing back because a) I couldn't set-up playlists other than the editable-on-the-fly 'go list' (and there was no related information printed or on the CD); and also b) because the voice recorder (a great feature for an 8 year old girl to play with) caused the device to shut down and be unresponsive, only coming back on when plugged into USB socket! I discovered that there were over 500 spurious empty audio files that needed to be deleted, but this didn't solve the problem.
a) was solved after a lot of trawling online forums but the solution is very simple and elegant. Copy the files over to the player (on a Windows PC (no idea about Macs), no special software required and device recognised immediately) and then simply select the files for the playlist, right click and select 'create playlist' before renaming to something sensible. The player recognises this playlist but it does not recognise the format of playlists created directly by the likes of Windows Media Player.
b) was solved by installing the latest firmware (Sandisk's customer support page is pretty good). A very simple process that I highly recommend even if you don't experience the same voice recorder problems that I did.
https://www.customernation.com/pls/ps/ps.ps_main?p_host=304&p_supplier=5096&p_parm=PSHPP
Find the device from the menus and then follow the easy instructions.
For the record I upgraded from ver 01.01.01A to 01.01.05E.
Don't underestimate the value of the micro SD slot - this is a great and, AFAIK, fairly unique feature. With the tumbling price of memory the 2GB capacity (~500 songs, more if the quality is dropped when ripping tracks) can be doubled now for less than £10! This MP3 player is nicely future proofed, 4GB cards are on the market now and who knows what will be available in a couple of years.
Finally ignore the complaint about 'not suitable for audiobooks' UNLESS your audiobook consists of very long files. The one I've ripped to the device for my daughter is a Harry Potter book and, as such, consists of hundreds of files roughly 1 min duration each. It's true that the machine doesn't remember position mid track, but it does remember which track it was last playing.
So, armed with the info above you should have this thing fully operational within minutes rather than the hours it took me...which means five stars as far as you're concerned. :-)
OK bit of kit.......2007-11-15
I had a few issues with my player straight out of the box - it kept freezing and needing a power reset to sort it out. Being a bit of a techy i managed to upgrade the operating firmware myself and have had no problems to date. Memory expansion is easy with a micro sd card. Sound quality is good, needing a USB port to charge it can be a bit limiting, but hey it's not an expensive bit of kit.
podcast disappointment.......2007-09-16
Although this seems to be a perfectly acceptable mp3 & wma player, it is completely useless for audiobooks and podcasts, as the Sansa Express does not remember far you got into the podcast before you had to power down. I.e if you got 20 minutes into your audiobook, but had to turn off your mp3 player, the Sansa would not continue from that 20 minute point, it would just start from the beginning instead!
I guess this wouldn't affect those using this as a music player though, hence the three stars.
pretty good.......2007-08-05
Had it for about two weeks sound quality pretty good considering iam using the supplied head phones ( which are a bit crap) hoping it ll be even better when the new cx ones aarrive. Has play lists artist music generes etc (consider taht the i pod shufle is more exoensive and you cant select attack.) Havent got a SD card but nice to have the option to expand memory. There no fm radio on this version you can get it with the fm radio but is an extra 10-12 quid. Amazon also sell the fm radio version i believe.

Customer Reviews:
Useful and practical.......2008-01-20
Doesn't rate much in terms of style/design - but in terms of practicality, I would recommend this product :)
Really is uncrushable.......2007-12-28
The ONLY reason this did not achieve 5 stars, is because the software installed on the drive by default is irritating, I use my pen drive to transport files between my home computer, and my university. When I plugged it in at the university, it installed a CD drive to load up the pre-installed software. This took up the only drive letter available, meaning I couldn't access my files, big disappointment. Uninstalling the software is recommended, administrative access is _required_ in order to uninstall it, another disappointment.
However, after removing the software, and freeing up a bit more space on the drive, I could use it the way I wanted. The drive is small and light, so it doesn't take up too much pocket space. It's also seriously strong, to the extend that I (accidently) ran it over in my car (prob. weighs about 1500kg), in the rain, and it still works perfectly, not even a scratch!
Great product but not Vista compatible.......2007-12-18
I love this USB Drive. The U3 software is really useful - it allows me to take all my firefox shortcuts with me. I've had it on my keyring in my pocket for a good 6 months now and apart from a few scratches, there's no damage.
I would give it 5 stars but for the fact that the U3 software is not Vista compatible and Sandisk have not issued an upgrade as yet.
A great product .... but Vista users beware........2007-11-07
I have had my Cruzer Titanium drive for over a year and its still going strong. I love everything about it and have recommended it, on many occasion, to friends and colleagues. It's fast, reliable and seemingly indestructible.
The U3 software is a real innovation and allows me to password protect my data. I mostly use the drive to store MSc research data on using the U3 version of Firefox and Zotero which allows me accesses to all the data wherever I am; home, library, work or uni. It has never let me down despite been stuffed in my jeans pocket almost every day since purchase.
You might think that this has been a real love affair and, until recently, it has been. That is until I upgraded OSs from XP to Vista. It seems that version 1.4 of the U3 launchpad needs to be installed on the Cruzer to get the drive to work in Vista. This is not a problem in and of itself as the software is easily updated from the launchpad. The real problem comes upon the discovery that only certain versions of the Cruzers firmware are compatible with Vista. I am one of the unlucky ones, my firmware is v2.18 and so it will never work with Vista. The U3 site states that for 'SanDisk smart drives: firmware (or device) versions 2.15, 2.16 and 2.21 support Vista while firmware releases 2.17, 2.18, and 2.20 do NOT support Vista'. Buyer beware.
Reliable and robust.......2007-08-14
Good piece of kit. Secure with plenty of storage and a fast transfer rate. The U3 "interface" thingy is useful in that one can access the device from the taskbar. Only downside is that the device is a little heavy due to its metal construction so I have replaced the weedy key ring attachment and I use a USB extension cable as some PCs USB slots allow the device to move effectively disconnecting it. That said, I would buy one again without hesitation.

BUYER BEWARE I NEALEY PURCHASED FOUR SD CARDS UNTIL I NOTICED THE POSTAGE CHARGES EIGHTEEN POUNDS TO POST FOUR SD CARDS
Product just fine - postage exorbitant!.......2008-01-05
Beware postage costs with this type of product - I was charged £9 for a jiffy bag with 2 cards in! - maximum cost could only have been about £2.50. If you buy from an offshore company you'll get it as cheap, lower postage costs, no VAT but you'll have to wait a few days longer.

Customer Reviews:
Looks like a case for trading standards..........2007-11-15
I bought this mp3 player for my mother who wished to use it in her car. Unfortunately, this is listed as having an FM Transmitter when it only has a FM receiver. I sent this product back expecting a replacement to be made but instead I received a refund. This begs me to believe that there is no such model with a transmitter on it!!! Don't buy this item if you are looking for this feature.
Do buy it if this feature is not important to you as it is one of the best mp3 players around.
Great little Audible player!.......2007-10-25
Contrary to the previous gentleman's review of this product, I find it quite easy to use with Audible books.
Do you want to save your place in the book for next time?
Simply power off the device whilst in the middle of the book - no need to pause.
I do wish it came with a protective carry pouch.
Pretty Good.......2007-09-12
Got this a few months back along with a 2GB micro SD card. I initially suffered from some instability as described by another reviewer (Mr Anderson) but this situation was swiftly rectified by a firmware update.
Since the firmware was updated the only issues I've had have been related to the version of the mp3 tags I use. It doesn't seem to like certain versions of ID3v2 tags (stick with 2.3 you will be fine - I use the free program MP3Tag for the purpose).
The radio reception is great, the voice recorder is average, the sound quality is better than my girlfriends iPod (with appropriate earbuds) and you can also use it in removable drive mode if you are savvy enough (see the AnythingButIPod forums for detail).
In all I'm glad I bought it and I would buy another if it broke.
Trouble With Audible Books, etc.......2007-09-09
I bought this device on the back of its supposed support for the Audible (.aa) audio book format. However, since taking it out of the box yesterday, I've had nothing but problems with it. It was supposed to be a gift for my mum, along with some audio books I would download and put on for her. However, it's so bad I have no choice but to send it back.
I've experienced all of the following problems, all within less than a day of use. Some of the trouble relates to Audible and not SanDisk, but I'm including it here because Sandisk and Amazon have prominently stated its usability as an Audible audio book reader on Amazon's site listing, on Sandisk.com and on the package contents.
* The device hung, warranting a reset. I found out how to do this on forums.
* The device repeatedly loses the settings you choose and goes back to the default without telling you.
* The hold button is wobbly and looks like it could fall off after some use.
* After signing up to www.audible.co.uk, and putting in my credit card details, I found that there were major issues downloading purchased books. I'm using a fully up-to-date copy of Windows Vista. When you select the item to download, the connection dialog appears and nothing happens. What you have to do, it seems, is to click cancel on this and retry it (often up to ten times) before download will commence. Downloads will then frequently fail or pause permanently part of the way through.
* Once you've successfully fought with it until it's downloaded, you've then got to transfer it to your device. Another fight. This time, it plays on the PC, but not the device, and transferring to the device again won't work (inexplicably), so you have to go through the process of downloading it again. Keep doing this repeatedly until it's downloaded and successfully transferred to the device and working on it.
* Once you've done the above, you'd better savour your first listening experience on it, because you might not get to hear it again. I found that after a couple of minutes of use, the audiobook files would no longer play, and the device would skip the selection and go to the next one with absolutely no error or explanation. The only step I could find to deal with this was to start all over again with another download. Transferring to the device again does not work.
* I downloaded the Audible Manager app from www.audible.co.uk and it wasn't the latest version. Why not ? I manually updated the Manager and also updated the device firmware myself from Sandisk's support site, and neither made any improvement.
* When I cancelled the subscription to Audible to stop my credit card being debited, I noticed another problem. When you select service cancellation, you have to confirm on their website several times before it will actually cancel, and what they do is they put the confirmation request way down at the bottom of a very long page. This way, when you click confirm, you see only the top half, which is empty. It would be quite easy for someone to assume the cancellation is done, but when you scroll down, you see they're asking you questions and it's not cancelled. The same thing happens on the next page, and the next, and the next. After several sneakily hidden steps, you finally get a confirmation that your subscription is cancelled and an e-mail to the same effect.
I work in IT, and am (if I do say so myself) technology savvy. How they (Sandisk or Audible) could expect anyone to put up with this garbage is beyond me. I can only imagine there are quite a few people dissatisfied, particularly if they don't have the time, inclination or ability to deal with technology problems.
Sorry for the long post. Here's the short version: absolute garbage.
