Internal hub, not an instalation of usb 2.0.......2008-01-14
I bought these thinking I could upgrade my father's machine from USB 1.0 to USB 2.0. Alas no, it merely uses an internal USB connection on the motherboard or utillises one of the existing USB ports on the back of the machine to increase it to four and places them on the front of the case where they are more accessible.
That said, delivery was excellent, quality of packaging and instructions were beyond reproach and the actual hub appears high quality.
Perhaps my mistake, perhaps the description could have been a bit better. Never mind - Dad's happy!

Easily upgrade to USB 2.0.......2003-10-03
I recently purchased a USB 2.0 external hard-drive for my laptop. Although this product functioned adequately via USB 1.1, the transfer speed was very slow so I opted to upgrade to USB 2.0. After a small amount of research I decided to purchase this product. It effortlessly attaches to the laptop PC Card 2 Port to provide two USB 2.0 connections. Windows XP automatically detected the new hardware, and within a few minutes I was able to connect the external hard-drive, and transfer files at a much greater speed. This product is well priced and extremely easy to use. The only problem I have encountered is when using Norton Ghost to create a backup of my C Drive - The USB connection fails and I have to unplug the external drive from the cardbus and connect it directly to the old USB 1.1 port. In summary for windows based software this product is great for easily adding USB 2.0 Ports to practically any laptop.

Works a treat.......2003-12-12
The card installed as per the intructions without errors or problems. Connected my digital camcorder to it and within 5 minutes I was capturing digital video. A great PCI slot saver if you happen not to have either USB2 or Firewire. One of the advantages of DV capture over analogue capture is that you can control the camcorder from your video editing package. USB2 is necessary for high bandwidth peripherals such as external hard drives and scanners. Overall a good product at a competitive price when compared to similar products from other manufacturers.

USB hub good but not foolproof.......2004-02-01
My preference was to install this in the 3 1/2 bay, but the fixing holes on the hub case aren't compatible with my PC, so it's gone into a 5 1/2 bay. The hub is well designed and looks good.
At the moment, however it isn't working. I'm using it with a USB 1 card so perhaps will need to upgrade, though the card is apparently compatible with USB 1.1.
Fixing in the 5 1/2 isn't covered by the booklet, but it has gone in OK - there are no screw holes on the hub case but there are slots which are just about adequate alternatives to fix into.
Currently I have connected the hub using the internal to external USB connector (which should be foolproof, so why it's not working I'm not sure). It is well designed, particularly the replacement bracket and grommet.
If I can get it working, it will be what I wanted! I'm sure that it will get to work and that the teething problems are mine rather than the hub's.

After going through one or two of these types of things that didn't work with or without proper drivers it was a joy to finally buy a product that worked first time out of box without any hassle whatsoever! You will need a power supply (not included) to use it with a device which requires power (like a flash drive or usb wireless dongle). But it works fine with my printer, scanner, and external hard drive connected.
