Sound quality is terrific - so what's the catch..?.......2007-07-30
The sound quality of these 'phones amazed me at the price. The drawbacks, however, were a too-long lead and unnecessary (for me) in-line sliding volume control. It meant I kept catching the lead on things - particularly at the gym - the control was a weak point and, consequently, they didn't last too long. Repeatedly jerking at the control exposed the cable slightly, and eventually one channel packed up. Won't stop me ordering some more, though the 4-6 week deilvery time has already led me to go for some simpler (inferior-sounding) temporary replacements.
Excelen earphones.......2007-02-28
These headphones are absolutely excellent, they are cheap for in-ear earphones, and are soooo comfy. Plus because of the rubber surround thing this means it fits most ear sizes. In addition they have a teeny tiny little volume control along the wire of the earphones which gives you maximum volume. So if you are thinking of buying them i definatly would.
Thanks

Mostly harmless.......2008-01-19
I use this as a PA amplifier in small halls, mostly fed from a very simple battery-powered mixer and a radio mic. In this capacity it works well, but it would be nice if the main unit incorporated a means of mixing or adding more than one input rather than merely switching from one to the other. An odd idiosyncrasy is that a sudden large spike to the input (e.g. pulling out an audio plug) can cause the front end to go into some kind of oscillation, knocking out the sound completely until the unit is switched off and on again (and there is a nine second delay before it comes back on). I returned mine for servicing in an attempt to solve this problem but the engineers were unable to reproduce the fault. It's fairly rare but disastrous when it happens. In normal use the unit is absolutely fine and good value for the money.
Great amp!.......2007-10-22
If you want a really great amplifier but you're a student, or you don't want to spend a fortune on an amplifier, than this is the amp for you! It gives a rich and clear sound. And no one can beat the price!
The only downside is the lack of support for a second pair of speakers, if you don't mind this, then go for it!
Delivers!.......2005-10-09
For the money, this is a really excellent amplifier from every point of view except one, it does not have a remote control. If you don't need a remote, GO for it!

Powerful & Funky!.......2006-05-21
Active speaker system with an RMS of 2 watts. Can be used passively without batteries. Although it's only 1 watt per speakers, the bass, clarity and amplitude is impressive!
Lasts long, using 4 x AA batteries. Additionally they can be powered though an adaptor socket on the back (but you need to buy an adaptor seperately).
Standard 3.5mm jacks on adequately long cables...but not too long that you'll be trailing them behind you when you're on the move. The left speaker plugs into a 3.5mm jack in the right speaker. The right speaker acts as the power centre, containing the batteries in a slot on the back, and a power button the front which lights red when powered on. Detachability of left and right speakers mean you can take just one speaker with you to make for a lighter load.
Nice design, with a groovy plastic speaker grill on the front. Nice shape, with a flat front and side and a semi-circle curvature around the top to the back and bottom. The right speaker (containing batteries) is a bit heavy, but not uncomfortably heavy...plus it's a sacrifice if you want power. Speakers are ported with an padded air hole at the bottom front, helping to maximise bass.
Negatives? Well only a few. No cable management, like a wrap-around or reel. Also, you can't 'clip' the speakers together so that they hold as one unit - this would help during transport.
Overall, impressive sound quality. Good bass! Cool looking. Functional.

Toshiba delivers quality.......2007-10-05
Toshiba SDP1900 - 9'' Widescreen Portable DVD Player
I have searched for a few weeks for a portable DVD player short listing my choices to the manufactures that I personally trust based on past experience and personal product ownership. These were Toshiba, Panasonic, Phillips and Samsung.
I have a Toshiba 37 inch LCD at home and a Toshiba laptop, both of which I am very pleased with thus went for this Toshiba SDP1900 unit based on my trust of Toshiba, that this was a 9 inch unit and the benefits listed below, which I hope assists you in making your own decision as to whether to buy this unit.
Pros
* The unit is attractive and gives a feel of quality with easy to use unit buttons; play, skip, etc.
* The 9 inch screen feels `just right' for a portable unit, many others are a smaller 7 inch, which I enjoy watching on the train, in hotels and traveling in the car with. The up to 5 hours battery life is positive compared to limited offerings from other manufactures.
* A `value add package' offering; the unit, a good multi function remote (not just a simple credit card remote for play, stop, etc.), a carry case (which can accept the unit, all cables and still have room for a number of movies and stuff), the units car kit and AV cables to connect to external equipment.
* Two headphone sockets; useful for `both of you' to watch a movie i.e. when traveling.
* `Bigger Brother DVD' functions i.e. resume, bookmark, etc.
* No LCD drag or digital noise.
* Toshiba's E.A.M. (Enhanced Audio Mode) an audio effect giving a `warmer / rounded' sound.
* Good audio through headphones (better than the onboard speakers).
* Easy to use Set Up Menus with simple choices and an easy to following instruction booklet making it very easy to set up, which some other manufacturers do not offer, in that some can be complex.
* Simple picture settings with the choices of; Colour, Brightness & Screen Fit.
Cons
* Onboard speakers are a bit tinny, you can adjust the sound with the different audio options on the unit however you get better sound through the headphones.
* As with all LCD screens if you view the screen too close i.e. under 15 cm for this unit you get a pixilated picture, so don't. The unit is best viewed IMO from around 50 cm and above.
* I taped a movie from SKY then burnt it to a DVD+R (not supported by this unit as DVD-R is the supported standard but through finalization I created a supported DVD-V, DVD Video, playable on all players). The displayed image was 2 1/2 x 6 inches not 9 inch widescreen, I tried all four of the Setup picture options, which did not alter the image size. You can alter the image size using the Zoom function. In this case Zoom-3 was the best, although not widescreen. The Screen Image Auto Fit works well on store purchased movies and shows the movie in full 9 inch widescreen. I will buy some DVD-R discs and test whether this has a positive effect.
* Some brands of blank DVDs are unreadable as can be the case when using some brands of blank DVDs in PCs and Players, bear this in mind before you bay a cake pack of 50 or 100 discs.
Summary
I am very pleased with this unit and award it 4/5 recommending you purchase it based on my view of quality, functions and price / value for money (get it online for around £150, Oct' 07)! I would give it 5/5 if it offered (i) better onboard speakers, (ii) DVD+R support & (iii) TV / SKY movies were playable `full screen' - although this IMO is not an issue with this unit but how I have burnt the movie (TBC).
16/10/07
I have purchased DVD-Rs and burnt a movie from Sky to a DVD-R to create a DVD-V (DVD Video with a top level menu), which gives the same small image as the DVD+Rs. Thus if you are transfering movies from Sky, DVD+R and DVD-R give the same results, which are improved by using Zoom/2 or Zoom/3 depending on preference.
