I recently purchased this TV from Comet and (so far) it is brilliant. It has a superb picture and the DNie feature is good as well. The sound is also brilliant for a TV with a 6w output and is more than good enough for my bedroom. It also looks beautiful and is by far the best looking TV on the market. It has lots of different connections at the back and also a slot for a CAM module if you have TopUp TV or Setanta. I have had this product a week and cannot fault it. If I could rate it more highly I would, it deserves more than 5 stars. Definitely a must buy.

I bought 2 of these little beauties for my sons this Christmas. Amazon was the best on price and next day delivery (excellent). The picture quality is very good for a small set. The contrast is first rate and colours are fully saturated and the definition is top class. Both my boys have been watching Blu Ray DVDs in crystal clear picture quality. Also PS3 games are truelly outstanding and freeview transmissions are very good also. Try out Open Season to see all the detail in the animals fur. wow. The sound is also very good for the size of the set and there are all the connections on the rear for PC, HDMI, audio, etc, Highly recommended 5+++++++++++

I had this as a 'free' gift when I purchased a mobile phone. The first thing to say is that this is a very good looking, pleasing to the eye and very stylish tv - a sexy beast!. Setting up is straightforward. There are 3 pre-stored picutre settings - Dynamic, Standard and Movie. I would recommend spending a little time getting your own preferred settings by adjusting the standard setting. It can take some time to get this to your liking but the effort is well worth it. The sound is not bad considering the size of this unit but if you push it through an external source, such as an amplifier, this will obviously result in a big improvement. Picture quality is very good with the built in freewiew tuner, dvd's on a standard player are also very good, normal analogue TV pictures are a little dissapointing but then your not likely to view by this means anyway. The menu system can take a little time to get used to and the remote is the same. I would recommened this unit but you do need to spend some time tweeking the settings to get the best out of it.

Bought this TV for our bedroom after looking at pretty much everything available from 15-20" screens with Freeview.
In general terms it looks great, very well designed and it's easy to manage the cables coming out of the back of it to keep them out of sight. Also the stand doubles as a wall mount if you prefer.
Within 5 minutes of taking it out the box it was set up and ready to view. It's pretty much a case of plugging it in and it does everything itself.
The freeview EPG is great, very easy to use and loads up very quickly.
The remote control is well laid out and has a useful luminous light button that lights up all the general volume and channel buttons if you're watching TV in the dark.
I really cannot find anything negative to say about it, and at the price that you can get it on Amazon you really couldn't do much better. I ordered mine using free supersave delivery and it arrived in 4 days.

I was after a nice LCD TV for the bedroom which wasn't black, that was quite good and didn't cost me a fortune... Well I found it!
Very stylish, it looks great but it does the job well too. Extremely easy to set-up, it's all automatic and you just need to press the Ok button few times, great picture and quite good sound too really. Also, menu are quite intuitive at least compared to other brands... which is a plus! Freeview is as good as with a set-top box and connectivity is very good. I've got to try it with my Xbox... :)
So overall extremely pleased especially if you think about the price is currently on sale for! Very good value for the money spent. Oh, delivery from Amazon was fast as usual and without problem.

I bought this as a replacement for my parents kitchen tv. It is a good looking tv not to heavy at all and easy to install and get up and running as my parents found to their delight. Once the digital channel button was found on the remote there was no going back to analogue tv. The picture is fantastic with only a slight blurring with fast changing colours, but the black is excellent making the colours stand out and be vibrant. Some other reviews have mentioned the sound not being he strongest but no complaints so far and the room this is in, is not a small room. Overall mightily impressed with this tv and bargain as well.

The channel setup was easy and automatic and after a quick and painless adjustment from the factory default picture settings the picture is excellent. Freeview channel switching is as fast as analogue for me and the text is faster than on my other digital sets (Sony and Philips).

As i write this I am getting a little confused by the lower scores that have been given for this set as the Freeview features are as good as any set top box. The other problem encountered by other reviewers is a poor picture quality however, without a HD source (this is a HDTV after all), the picture will be no better than a CRT screen.
I got this TV for christmas for use with my Playstation 3 and it is fantastic. The TV supports 720p and 1080i, however 720p is better for moving images so I use that instead. The picture clarity is amazing and the simulated SRS surround sound is amazing (again, looking at the other negative reviews i don't understand how they were getting "tinny" sounds when it plays through dual digital sound channels).
The TV comes with both Component HD connectors or HDMI so i opted to buy the Lynx gold plated uber-cable that Amazon sells and the picture is flawless when plugged into a HD source like a games console. If you have an XBox 360 then you will need components (the Elite supports HDMI).
A quick note about HDTVs if you are looking for one: In order to view High definition, you MUST HAVE A HD SOURCE, your normal TV signal is still regular old Analogue or Digital Freeview so the TV will show it that way. Sky offers a HD service but i have no idea how good it is. Games consoles are the bees knees though so if you are looking for a cheap yet good HD screen, this is the one for you.

The speaker quality is not what I expected for £160. It would make a good PC monitor but for me it falls short as a TV. I also use an Infra Red receiver to connect to a Sky Box down stairs. It did not relay this is consistent quality.
I recommend this as a PC monitor with additional speakers but advise you to buy a out and out TV. I don't agree with one of the reviews that tinny speaker quality is to be expected from a flat screen TV. I have a 26inch and the quality is excellent.

I wanted a cheap little telly for the bedroom, wasn't too bothered with the the look. I was so suprised, the telly looks very stylish and it is a lovely clear picture. It took me about 5 minutes to do the basic set up and get running. There is no instruction manual but all the information is on a cd. Minor thing, sound is a bit tinny. Overall very pleased with the whole thing,worth every penny in my books.

I bought this monitor because I needed a computer monitor with a larger resolution than I had with the ability to play my Wii on it.
I wasn't disappointed. I plugged in my computer via DVI-D and immidiately saw the improvement over my old monitor. 1440 by 900! Thank you very much. Also, the built-in TV tuner works great. It comes with a comprohensive set of rear connectors for anything you'd want to plug in; VGA (15-pin), DVI-D, Component, RCA, S-Video, SCART, and of course RF (tuner).
Also, the VESA 100 holes in the back panel make it mountable just about anywhere, with the right stand of course. I'm using the headphone port to plug the TV into my computer speakers which are far higher quality than the built-in 3 watt stereo.

Firstly i want to thank Amazon for sending this item out to me within just a few days(my 1st order with amazon, and im very very impressed!)
I was looking for a chap HD LCD for my son to use with his Xbox 360 and i was lucky enough to find this set at a baragin pice!(better than Play.com's price!)
You will not find a better TV for the price! Just over £150 is an absolute bargain! take a look in Argos and Currys etc you will not find a 19" Hd LCD TV for a better price! and if you did it would most likley be a Bush, Polaroid or some other cheap make! However The reason im giving this TV 4 starts is because the sound is very poor indeed, BUT can be solved with a set of speakers, and the only other reason is because it doesn't have a HDMI port BUT there is a component which means you can plug up an Xbox 360 onto this set and play in wonderfull HD!!
The resolution on this TV is 1440x900 which i think you will find is actually better than needed for HD, which means the picture will/does look very very impressive. Just take a look at the contrast ratio on this set, its 3000:1 which compared to cheaper sets i.e bush which have something like 400:1 makes the picture look even better due to more deeper blacks and much brighter whites which is what HD is all about!
My son uses this TV for his Xbox 360 and as a PC monitor! wich makes this TV even better value! LG even give you the requirred lead to use this with your PC. One thing i haven't tried with this TV is the actual TV signal, i can not get a proper tuned picture from were i live so i can not comment on that, but if you are looking for a cheap, quality small HD LCD look No further. LG give you a 3 year guarantee with this set which is great if anything was to happen, giving you a peace of mind.
I'll now come to the styling and looks of this TV. Its a very slim and stylish set, and the black colour really maes it look that much better! Black is the colour to get these days, for electrical items, looks very nice!
Overall i am very happy with my purchase and would highly recommend this set. One thing i forgot to mention is that for the people who are wondering if this set supports 60Hz, it does support this, which means its ok for Xbox 360 games which require 60Hz to Play, so you are covered with that, just thought i'd mention that.

Volume too loud at lowest level.......2008-01-22
I have to agree with another reviewer who mentioned that the volume when on level 1 is still quite loud. This is a problem that means I have to return my set as I bought it for watching TV in bed and it really is too loud to have on late at night, particularly as I know my neighbour's bedroom is on the other side of the wall the TV is on! It's a shame because I was very pleased with my purchase, I would still recommend it to anyone for whom sound is not an issue.

Having looked round to find a small lcd television/dvd/freeview for my bedroom i found the choice very limited,and trying to find reviews of certain makes impossible, so after digesting the reviews from customers whom had purchased the Daewoo i brought one,well was it a good buy? a big yes.i experienced none of the problems mentioned in the reviews no background noise, setting up was easy piture quality was great as long as u have a good signal (for Digital) found the remote fine not too small,and the piano finish looks really nice, so if your looking for a small lcd dvd freeview that is real gem look no further

I purchased two of these tv's, one for the bedroom and one for my parents (as a second tv). Great picture quality, great sound, loads of functions.
If you haven't got a digital aerial you will need one (but thats not a negative point against this tv, you'll need one for all digital tv's).
I fully recommend this tv as a first or second Tv, great value for money, you can remove the stand and wall mount it (100x100)
Easy to set up and operate..... Go for it!

I bought this monitor as a replacement for an 18" 4:3 aspect DELL monitor that had finally given up the ghost after 3+ years. I was drawn to this unit as it seemed to offer an opportunity to combine a LCD TV with a PC monitor and also because it had HD inputs (Composite and a single HDMI) for my games consoles.
The unit is incredibly stylish - great simple clean lines with a quality piano-black gloss finish which looks super. The stand is small and unobtrusive and offers a tilt mechanism so you can adjust the angle the monitor is at. The back ports are well organised and well labelled and there is also a set of AV inputs on the side of the unit. The nice blue 'glow' around the power button is classic Samsung and looks nice. Another factor behind my choice of this unit was the built in speakers. These are competent enough for general use but if you're a dedicated gamer or intending to use this as your daily TV, you might want to look at alternative sound sources. For me and what I want, it's fine right now.
As a monitor and using the DVI-D input, the picture is stunningly clear, sharp and crisp with good colour reproduction. It is quite bright but alternative 'picture modes' may lessen the initial feelings of harsh brightness on mainly white backgrounds (we use "internet" mode which seems to tone the white down nicely). My pictures look great on it. It's taking me a while to adjust to being in 'widescreen' mode on my PC though - some of my pictures do look a little stretched now.
As a TV, it seems reasonably competent too. I confess that this is my first LCD TV and I'm only running it of an anlogue source (no built in Freeview if that's important to you!) but the picture seems reasonable for an LCD screen. It's quite simple to set up but the instructions (both printed and on the enclosed CD) are evidently translated into English with some great quotes in there! It is capable of displaying HD transmissions with a suitable source and offers AV, SCART, Composite and HDMI inputs for those.
I haven't had oppportunity yet to try it with the games console so can't really comment on that.
Price wise, Amazon seemed pretty well placed on this. Argos were doing this at £199 for a while but PC World were £250 at one point.
One small quibbles - there was no DVI cable in my box. It came with a D-SUB cable and a cable for hooking it up to the audio out on the PC as well as a UK and European power cable. I had a DVI cable anyway so no major complaints but others may be frustrated by this.
Overall, I highly rate this hybrid monitor/TV and would recommend it to others looking for a replacement monitor - it's great to get the extra functionality and may help reduce clutter is some rooms. It's very stylish and would, I'm sure, look great in most situations. The monitor elements are faultless and the TV functionality is, for me, an added extra. I'm looking forward to testing it with the PS3 and 360 for a truly HD gaming experience.

I have had this TV for about a month now and really can't fault it in terms of picture and audio quality. In fact there is very little to criticise.
The unit itself is quite stylish, with a black glossy surround to the screen. The speakers are incorporated into a perforated panel long the bottom, but this blends in well and isn't really noticeable. For the best effect, mount the TV on the supplied stand, as this has a very classy (and heavy) glass base and provides the complete package.
Setting up is a simple affair, with the now standard auto tune and with it having a built-in Freeview tuner you will get the appropriate digital channels. I certainly found that this set picked up more channels than the previous one I had, so the tuner seems to be more `sensitive' than some. There are some default picture and audio settings, so at the press of a button on the remote you can quickly find one that suits you. If not, then there are numerous adjustments that can be made and saved as a `personal' default. There is also and option for the set to detect 4:3 or 16:9 display and switch automatically, or you can manually do this. The remote itself is bit lightweight but the layout of the buttons is fairly logical and easy to use. Some of the more obscure functions have symbols that aren't immediately obvious as to what they do, but a quick read through the manual will fill in the blanks.
In use the picture quality is very good and as long as you feed it a quality signal you won't have to worry about any blockiness. Colour and brightness are well controlled and generally the picture never gets to that washed out effect some sets display. The audio is very good for such a small TV and remains distortion free beyond a normal listening level. There is an option to have a `surround sound' effect but in use I found this not very effective.
The only criticism I have is that the menu structure can be confusing and is not that intuitive. If you have owned Philips products before in the A/V area then you are most probably familiar with this type of thing, as Philips have never been that good at designing easy to use menus. In the EPG for example you can page down through the channels but if you want to get back to BBC1 (in position 1) you can't do this in a single button press. For most of the basic stuff it is fine, and maybe I have been spoilt with having Sky+ and its EPG, but it is a minor annoyance at times.
It's worth four and a half stars, but as it has to be a whole number then four it has to be.
Is mine faulty or is it a bug?.......2007-11-14
I bought this TV 3 months ago and I am generally pleased with it. Picture is very good from a distance (it is a bit noisy close up - that could be my signal strength tho). Sound is very good and clear.
I have it in the bedroom quite high up compared to the bed. I had to buy a wall bracket to tilt the TV down a bit as the picture would appear too dark when you look at it from below (the viewing angle is set so that it's OK to look at the TV from the top but not from below).
I've found 3 bugs on the set:
1- The EPG doesn't update correctly. On the Now and Next page, sometimes BBC1 will show a program for 8.00 to 8.30 whilst ITV1 will show a program for 6.00 to 6.30 (ie. the Now time is completely different between channels).
2- I have a DVD player connected to Ext4. When I first turn the TV on, if it is on Ext4 and I switch it back to DVB Tuner the screen becomes blue and the OSD displays 'Digital TV' but no sound or picture appears. I have to turn the TV off at the switch to fix the problem. This has happened 3 times in over 2 months use.
3- Sometimes when I switch channels on DVB, the sound goes away. I have to change channel again for the sound to come back.
Philips tells me that the set is faulty and that I need to send it back to Amazon who will forward it them. I'm a bit worried that it'll get lost and that they won't be able to recreate the bugs as they happen so rarely (except for the EPG). It seems to me that a firmware update could fix these. Has anyone had the same problems?

I have recently bought one of these, and on the whole I am very pleased with it. I decided to buy it in preference to the Samsung equivalent, because it has a mor powerful amplifier and my partner has poor hearing. Both the picture and sound quality are very good.
My only complaint is about the size of the OSD controls. I use this TV in my bedroom, where I am about 4m away from the screen. At that distance many of the controls are unreadable, and I have to move closer to the screen to make them out.
One of the frustrations of buying a TV, even in a store, is that they cannot demonstrate the Freeview functions like the IPG, or even the Freeview picture quality.
You may want to compare the OSD on different TVs with this one if you are going to be using it from more than 6 feet away.

WOW.....what a TV!!!
As soon as you take it out the box you can see it has a quality build to it.
The high white gloss color looks very stylish and looks fantastic in my kitchen.Just plug it in and it sets all your freeview channels automatically.
Picture & sound quality is amazing, but when connected to my HD cable box & my HD dvd player,the picture quality is the best I have ever seen(it's like watching 3D)
There is not one thing I can find wrong with this TV.

I can genuinely find nothing bad to say about this TV. When it arrived, I was firstly struck by how stylish this TV was (if you love your iPod, you'll really appreciate the white and silver styling of this, its very funky) and it comes with a cool white glass stand. Setting it up couldn't have been easier, I simply turned it on, and it did the rest - finding all of the freeview channels automatically and quickly. The picture is really great, and that is just with my old portable aerial. The sound quality is good for a TV of this size, the volume goes pretty high too (I have it on 17 out of 100). I would recommend this TV to anyone, I love it!

I was in two minds whether to buy this philips or the samsung. Im so glad I opted for this one, what a fantastic sound and the picture quality is crystal clear, (what it says on the box). Its in my kitchen and the white finish gives it a different but sylish look. I have a large kitchen diner its always busy, lots of chatting, food cooking, extractor fan on occasionally but you can still hear the sound over all the noise, clearly and its only turned up half way. Overall a great tv for a kitchen or bedroom the screen looks bigger than a 19" and with digital intergrated its a good buy.
