My Personal eperience with Zen V.......2008-01-08
Ive had this Mp3 Player for about a year and it is very very good. The sound quality is very impressive especially when i bought a pair of Synthesizer headphones for it. The screen is bright and all the other features are good. It is very easy to put music in and battery life is decent.
I just read some negative reviews about it and I must say this MP3 player has only frozen on me once, which i resolved by pressing the little reset button.
Some people were complaining about it being delicate, but i must say I haven't been nice to this MP3 player. Ive had it in my pocket with my keys, Ive sat on it and applied a lot of pressure to it over this year , but the Zen is fine with a few scratches on it.
I think it is defiantly worth the price, even thou I paid about £100 when i bought it.
The only down point with the Zen V plus was that all the accessories that came with it were too big for it, for example the little sock things to put the device in. I felt like Creative just didn't bother making a smaller one for the Zen V plus and just used the ones they had for the Zen.
Avoid!!.......2008-01-08
I had no problems with the software unlike some other reviewers and songs loaded on fine, and I've also had great experiance with creative's range of sound cards, however...
1. Its made of plastic so thin and flimsy that you need to be careful if you put this player down outside in case it gets blown away by the wind or carried of by a large mouse.
2. Because of the previously mentioned wafer thin 'paper' its made from, if you sit on/drop/press buttons/use this player it will break. I advise using a cotton bud to press the buttons so you dont apply too much undue pressure.
3. The battery life. Its battery life rivals the lifespan of a mayfly - I think I got about one hour out of it after charging it for about 7. I think the 15 or so hours battery life the box refers to is actually the total life span of the player rather than a single charges play time.
You have been warned...
Normally I would happily recommend Creative to anyone but not the Zen - no way.
Avoid like the plague.......2008-01-05
I have had an old Creative Zen NX MP3 player for a number of years and have been really happy with it, but figured I would like a smaller model to carry about with me
There are some good things to be said about the unit - it's really small and light, and the features are good - really liked having a radio on it
But - and this is a very very big but - the unit is useless - the firmware is so unstable it crashes every other day, when this happens you can only rescue it by pressing the incredibly small and hard to find reset button - impossible if you don't happen to carry a safety pin or similar on your person when you are out and about!!!
Secondly, the Windows drivers are so fundamentally broken that it is next to impossible to get tracks transferred on to the player as it will keep on dropping the connection
I raised this with Creative tech support and the solution is to apply all number of registry hacks and Windows hotfixes - none of which really sorted out the problem and I feel is way beyond the average PC user
Having had a look at their forums on their website I am not alone in this situation and this affects many others too
In summary - I was once a very happy and loyal Creative customer - now I will never buy another Creative product again for as long as I live - have now given up on this and have purchased a SanDisk player instead!!!
Why you sould not buy ZEN V PLUS........2007-12-20
Having purchased and owned this product since June this year i think I can give a fair review. The plus points are, that my unit apart from "blackouts" due to I believe Voltage charging changes (spikes)has cut out and had to be re-set, also removing the player whilst docked even switched off can also cause a frequent re-set to be necessary. Not a bad point, but could concern some users, I had a small heart attack on day two! MP3 playback is good and on that score this is a good player, I have checked it out through classy CYRUS logic speakers and apart from low output,it did as well as any thin track mp3 device and better than many others. Handled with some respect, it is tactile, comfortable to use and I think quite attractive to look at.
Now the minus points.
The user interface is in my opinion rubbish. And this is not suprising considering the user interface of the company that produces this product.
The problems start when you read the manufacturers description and technical details.THE biggest omission is that ZEN V PLUS will cost you as of today from £59 (I paid £98 with Amazon postage etc)BUT and here is the big but, to have the "INTERGRATED" battery changed will cost you £53!!
Because Creative and only Creative can change the battery under warranty or Service conditions. And nowhere could I see this information before I purchased.Finding out this information from Creative was also like pulling teeth, painful and very difficult.Had I have known I WOULD HAVE NOT PURCHASED.This has been designed as a "throw away unit" in my opinion and I am totaly against that.
Creative have built one of the cranky-est ever user interfaces into this equipment and many people will find it, in my opinion, terribly difficult to use (geeks accepted). The "Mistruction" manual is as thick as a log, but has just a few pages in English, these are almost total rubbish from a users point of view. (I am a technical author) And worse still, the Creative Technical staff mis-quote from it. The "Creative Knowledge base" is a cheap and nasty inappropriate self help tool, with poor information available. Worse still, if you do contact the Technical staff, they appear to have to translate everything you write. And a lot seems to get lost in translation! This lot will avoid at all costs giving you straight answers on battery replacement for example (10 emails later) and cannot follow a simple thread to give information, in my experience. Or is this a cynical, deliberate, evasive policy?
So think before you buy! Can you afford a £53 bill for a new battery? How long will that battery last? Creative quote 1 to 2 years depending on use? Well thats a bit vauge like the whole Creative experience.
Unfortunately. Well, it is hard to be a customer sometimes..
Replacement Battery.......2007-12-10
I've owned this player now for 5 months, It works well. The only thing I would like to see is a replacement battery. If the battery wares down, then that it means you would have to buy a new player. I surpose it depends on how offen you use it. The cover is a bit tricky to take off to replace a new battery anyway.

Better than expected.......2008-01-19
This has arrived before the player itself, so I'm currently listening to it using my old Sandisk MP3 player. The build is good; it has a solid, quality feel, and for such a small package it sure packs a good sound! I can see it could well become a constant companion.
Does exactly what it says on the tin.......2008-01-18
I've now had the Zen for 4 months and the Travelsound for 2 months. The Travelsound unit provides a charging station when connected to mains or PC or both and a USB docking point when connected to PC. The Zen V and V plus integrate into the front beautifully. The unit is beautifully finished and looks and sounds great with good bass. It even includes a fold out telescopic arial for the FM radio to complement the Plus models. Sound quality is very good if not hifi and at full volume, louder than you would usually need. It works from the included mains adapter or from 4 AA batteries. I use rechargeable NiMh which last for ages on a single charge. The mains adapter comes with an exchangeable UK style 3 pin and a mainland European style 2 pin plug. A wireless remote control is included which covers most playback functions of the unit, volume, mute, spatial sound on/off, pause/play, track select, function select, and forward/back, although with the size of the Zen V screen you have to be fairly close to read what you are selecting on some functions.
The only improvement I would suggest is that when plugged into the mains it charges the Zen but it doesn't charge the AA batteries. It would be nice if it did.
If you have a Zen V or V plus I would say that this is a must buy and is useful both around the home and when travelling. I am highly satisfied with my purchase.
Superb.......2007-11-27
Have had these speakers for some time now and I am very impressed with them. A point that others have mentioned is the fact that it charges the player when plugged in to the mains. It is also very portable and works just aswell with 6 AA batteries which is great if you want to listen to music in the bath but dont want something plugged into the wall. It also has a very sleek remote for it. I have taken it on holiday with me before and found it excellent. The sound that comes out of it is incredbile, if you have the volume tirned up on the player aswell as the speakers you will find it blasting out at high volume with some good bass in it too. One of the best things Ive ever bought.
Brilliant.......2007-10-27
After buying a Creative V which I have found also brilliant and really good value for the money.I had no choice but to buy the docking speakers to go with it.I cant say anything but good things about them, the quality of the sound, the length of time it runs on a singal charge, user friendly the whole package is brilliant. And on top of all that it looks good. Why you would buy an ipod when you can get a really great Creative package as this I dont understand.
Brilliant !!!.......2007-10-15
I bought the docking speakers to use mainly when I go on holidays etc.as I thought the sound wouldn't be up to much for the price...how wrong could I have been? It is now in the kitchen being used daily. It works easily with Windows Media Player so you don't really need to install their software and the base charging is really useful.

BASS!.......2007-11-30
Bought these over the cx300's, for one reason, bass.
Even though these do lack on mid/treble ranges compared with the cx300's, the bass is amazing! If you into hiphop/drum and bass, these are ideal.
Are they worth £24?.......2007-10-23
I think these earphones look nice, but not as good as the Cx300 which is alot cheaper(watch out for fakes), or the Soundwise E2 which is also cheaper and looks better.
Quality.......2007-09-12
These are the best earphones I've used at this price. The sound is crystal clear to the point that I found myself turning the volume way below where I'd usually play music. This is whilst travelling on a noisy bus, which goes to show how well the noise isolation works. When listening to music in slightly quieter surroundings I've still found the clarity so great that songs sound like they've improved in quality overnight.
I can't recommend these enough, and for this price they're a total treasure.
Value for Money!!.......2007-09-03
These headphones are amazing quality-wise for their price. Much better than the Senhisser CX's. The cable is very long, but comes with a handy cable tie. They are also very comfortable.
The pride of these headphones are their bass quality. You will discover comletely new elements to songs with a lot of bass. And their noise cancelling successfully drowned out my sister, which is always a monstrous task.
AMAZING BASS!.......2007-05-24
If you listen to Hip-hop, or any other bass intensive music, then these are a must have! These are by far the best in-ear headphones i've listened to music with, and they really are excellent quality. Even listening to rock music, you can clearly hear all the riffs, and the bass guitar flourishes.
The sound isolation is one of the best i've experienced, and it really does work. I travel on the train everyday, and it really does wonders.
The only minor fault i can pick is that the cable is quite thin, and rubbery, and can easily get tangled, but the supplied cable wrap is very useful, and avoids this problem to some extent.
I thoroughly recommend this product over the Sennheiser CX300, as these sound much better, and have better sound isolation in my opinion.

Customer Reviews:
Looked good, but incredibly disapointing.......2007-11-04
Ok, so like many people, i was looking for an interesting, cheap, oringinal alternative to the ipod nano. At first it looked brillant, BUT ITS CHEAPER FOR A REASON.
When I got it i was very pleased with it, my single gripe at that point being that the headphones didn't stay in my ear too well.
Then I tried to put some music on it of course, and it did not work at all with vista, neither would recognise the other was connected.
Luckily it worked on my dads work pc, but that wasted loads of time and stopped me being to buy individual tracks off the internet (which I had been looking forward to).
So for a month or 2 I was rather pleased with it, until the ominous red ines started permanently appearing on the screen. Less than an hour after that the whole thing froze completely, and wouldn't even respond to me putting a needle in the reboot hole-thing.
Then it went black and wouldn't turn on so now I am getting a refund (hopefully).
In short, if it works then you couldn't ask for more, but considering quite a few people have also had these sorts of problems, its too big a risk so don't get it.
Creative Zen V.......2007-09-27
Looks lovely and as this was my first foray into an MP3 I could not have got one that looked better. The only problem is that the book tells me how to get music into the zen from my CD but not how to erase it when I am sick of it. I have tried all the permutations of the word "erase" ie remove, delete, get rid of, bin. I still cannot for the life of me figure out how to get the music from the Zen into the bin. The Creative website is about as useful as a chocolate teapot. I think I may have to put this one down to experience and next time try something else
Lovely machine but ..........2007-09-26
I've had my Zen for six months or so now and had been very pleased with it until recently. It looks great, is easy to use and the sound quality is superb. However a week ago it froze and, like others here, I just couldn't get it to re-start at all. The computer kept telling me the machine wasn't connected and the re-set button didn't seem to have any effect.
I was just about to take it back to the shop when I tried re-loading the software on my computer and - bingo - it all sprang to life again. It may be worth a try if, like lots of others, you're having the same problem.
I have absolutely no idea why this worked, but it did and my Zen and I are now happily reunited. Call it a flash of inspiration if you like but it was done one night when I couldn't sleep due to my husband's snoring so he ought to take credit really.
I agree with others - the machine is great while it works, but the user support when it doesn't is non-existent.
faulty from the start, poor customer service.......2007-09-18
I bought one a few months ago and within a week it froze, and continued to do so on a regular basis. Eventually I got tired of having to drain the battery/ restart every few days and tried to return the player to Amazon. I was given a 'not my problem' response and passed onto the manufacturers, who in turn passed me off to the general enquiries page of the Creative website. I've been told I cannot get my money back and must simply keep trying to restart the player. This would be fair enough had it been a longer time period but I think a product that requires a 'system cleanup' within a week of purchase is not going to last much longer. Very dissapointed.
Great player, naff software / firmware.......2007-09-06
Bought one of these for my wife and as a result have had to buy a V+ 8GB for myself to avoid her wrath when I nick hers.
Fantastic design, great sound, easy to use. Have also bought a Kensington Universal FM Transmitter for use in the car and a Travelsound docking station for recharging & listening outloud
Now for the down sides : It keeps freezing. It's easy enough to reset but on the most recent freeze it won't reset so have had to contact Creative. I'm hoping I get better customer service that others seem to get from Creative. The recharging of it is also a problem as it will only recharge from the PC via a USB lead, which is fine if you always have access to your PC, but when going on holiday, unless you take the installation CD with you to install on somebody elses computer, you won't be able to recharge it. Buying the docking station solves this problem if you don't mind forking out extra cash or alternatively you can get a power lead.
Something else to note is that it won't accept any MP3's or WMA's over 320kbs, so if your WMA's are already ripped at a higher rate you'll have to re-rip them if you want them on the Zen V.
Have had a helpful response from Creative that required the reformating of the player which cured my players problem. Easy to do but obviously will have to reload all media onto the player.
Customer Reviews:
Really brilliant!.......2008-01-13
These headphones are really the best i've had in a long time. I've tried others but these definitely come up trumps.
I have a few qualms with them though, one is that they don't block out external sound as well as I was lead to believe they did...and also, they're SO EXPENSIVE!! I went to an Apple store (God knows why) to buy these and they were £70. At the time, I had lost my credit card so couldn't get them on the net. The thing is, (although I know they are usually cheaper) I couldn't find any other shop which sold them for cheaper.
Anyway, overall, I think they're almost perfect, they do fit really well in one's ears and they're highly rated for good reasons :)
Superb quality sound - but be careful how you store them.......2007-11-25
I'd researched several sets online before I purchased these - out of all the headphones in this price range they are praised highly for their bass response which is good for a fan of heavy rock like myself. I also tried my parent's Shure EC3 sets which - although having suberb clarity - just didn't have enough low-end for my taste.
These are absolutely superb - a full, rich bass sound that is of incredible depth. All the music I've played through them sounds fantastic. However you need to be very careful with how you put them away. I imagine a lot of people wrap their headphones around their players or curl them into a loop. Unlike most headphones which have a rubber surround on the plug which allows you to bend the cable around when curling it up - this has a metal one which will cut through the wire. I played these through a Zen Stone and would wrap them around the player when done - which eventually caused the plug to slice through the wire as it did not allow cable to bend 90 degrees without pressing against the edge.
That said I will be buying another pair to replace these because they are so good! Lesson learned about storage though.
Not good value.......2007-10-23
You would be better off with a pair of Soundwise G4, they are much better value.
A worthy upgrade.......2007-06-26
I hated the sound of my 3G ipod with the earphones it came with. I soon upgraded to Sony MDR-ED31's and found the sound acceptable but a little lacking in bass. I found the ED31's worked their way out of my ears during my commute and let too much ambient sound in. Upgraded to Sony EX-71's and found the bass improved a bit and isolation greatly improved. These Sony's sound SOOO bassy on other equipment but not on my ipod... puzzling. Two ipod's later (now a 5.5G) I finally upgraded (mainly due to the cable perishing on my Sony's) to the v-moda vibes, and from the box the bass was amazing but the treble a little harsh. 12 hours later the treble has eased and they offer a warmly balanced sound that is certinaly not bass shy. The best sound I've heard from an ipod to date and well worth the £50 outlay. They appear beautifully made and in gunmetal black are pretty unobtrusive. I'm a little worried that when I chuck them in my pocket with the ipod the metal finish will scratch the ipod... oh well. The vibes have more bass with the ipod EQ turned off than the EX-71's had with "bass booster" setting. Love them!
Pretty, but that's it.......2007-05-04
These headphones are exactly what it says on the box they come in: "a hi-tech fashion accessory". They look nice, and fit ok but thats the extent of what you get for your money. The sound quality is very poor, its all muddy mid range, no rich bass despite having a perfect ear seal, and no clarity whatsoever with the treble. The sound isolation is also sub-standard rendering these phones useless for listening in noisy environments such as tubes/buses etc. Not worth the money.

Disappointed.......2007-09-23
Maybe my own fault, but I looked at the picture and saw pink! I didn't read the description properly where the pack actually contains a white skin instead of a pink one - Booo! I don't think they're value for money, and you don't need 5, would be better to create a pack of 2 or 3. I should have returned this item, but was too hasty to have a look and tore open the packaging - oh well never mind!!
