Brilliant for the cost and amount of features!!.......2008-01-02

I got my isymphony for christmas so ive had it for just over a week now with no trouble at all. my ipod works briliantly on it with easy navigation from the remote control that comes with the system. the fm radio is as good as any radio ive ever heard with no destortion at all. the only thing that isnt excelent is the dvd player, its a bit skippy and jumpy to start off with but it soon settles down and mine barely skips anymore. considering it was bought as a hifi not a dvd player i was very surprised by the quality of it, and its cheaper then buying a seperate dvd player for another £50. altogether an excelent machine that i can recomend to anyone.

Sounded too good to be true.

And it was too good to be true.

Handles ipod fine but no good for playing dvd's, keeps freezing,blocking and skipping mine now going back.

Like the previous reviewer, I have owned 2 iSymphony M2UKs in the recent past. The second has developed the same fault as the first - it just does not recognise burnt CDs, and won't play DVDs properly. It's a shame because on paper it looks great. When playing an iPod through it the sound's not bad either. But maybe the versatility promised was just too good to be true... So back it goes tomorrow, to be replaced by something that will hopefully be more reliable.

Dont waste your money.......2007-04-03

Having read a number of reviews and having been impressed by the spec, I decided to part with some hard earned cash for what I thought would be a fantastic buy, I couldn't have been more wrong. The First M2 lasted all of 4 hours after purchase until the main unit failed. Funnily enough I thought it may have been just one of those things and exchanged it for a second M2 which took just 1/2 hr until it decided to skip on both old and new cd's and also randomly open the disk tray, it now will not recognise there is a cd in the tray at all. Having done some further research on the internet, I have found that I am not alone in my experience. When I return this one i will not be replacing it with an i-symphony and understandably i have no confidence in this brand.

iSymphony M2UK

First 5 Minutes:
Unpacking and set up was easy. It took me a few minutes to work out how to change the Pod docking adapter. Hooked up the video out using S-Video out, for better quality, to the TV SCART. Switched on. Lovely blue, glowing neon front lights.
Remote took a bit of looking at to work out all the buttons (50 in total).

First tests:
CD -
Good sound quality. Preset EQ are: Flat (does what is says), Classic (clear high notes, average bass), Rock (heavy on the bass), Pops (everything sounds quieter?) and Jazz (nicely balanced). DBBS adds a punchy bass. Quite a good sound from the small speakers.

MP3/WMA CD/DVD -
First thing to note is that you must have the M2 hooked up to your TV. Otherwise you wont know what you are playing. The M2's front display does not show MP3 tag info. Once I worked this out, navigation was pretty simple, via the TV. Just remember to point the remote at the M2 and not the TV!

Front USB and card reader -
The same goes for navigation here. TV needed. Otherwise, both work fine.

MPEG4 -
The M2 handles .MPG very well. It depends on the quality of the original. Navigation is the same as for MP3. The videos in each folder play one after the other.

JPEG-
Plays all .jpg / .jpeg files. However there are limitations on size.

DVD-
Plays DVD's just like you DVD player. Also supports VCD and SVCD.

Auxiliary -
Basically, anything that has an audio output, can be played through the M2

FM/AM radio-
Not set this up yet, so no info, but looks easy enough. (Note, the M2 does not have in-built DAB.

iPod-
This is what puts the M2 at the top. Its made for iPod. Supports 3G, Mini, 4G, Photo, Nano, and 5G with Video. Just dock your Pod into the top and use the remote to navigate. (Note, no TV needed here, use the pod's screen.) To view movies, video podcasts and photos etc, just set your iPod to TV out and view through the TV. Perfect! It even charges the iPod for you.

Overall, why buy an expensive iPod dock when the M2 can do so much more
