Ugly and rather poor phone.......2007-10-28

I too had read other positive reviews of the BT Diverse range but I am afraid that my experience has been rather different:

1. The phone, very unhelpfully, mangled my SIM card (after carefully following the instructions). Any phone that means you have to get a new SIM card, and therefore advise all and sundry of a new mobile number, can only be described as a ripe pain in the ****

2. It produces an irritating audible background hum. My old cordless placed in the same position does not have this effect. Conclusion: there is insufficient protection from interference on this phone.

Question: why is each new cordless phone that I buy WORSE than last one. The current choice on the market seems to either 'very plastic and tacky' or 'very plastic and tacky', and in the case of this phone, remarkably ugly (when you finally see it in the 'plastic')

Fantastic phone - great value for money.......2006-03-26

I spent a weekend choosing my new DECT cordless phone and this was my choice. I had been tempted by the BT Diverse 6450 which has an answerphone built-in but BT's 1571 suits my needs perfectly, so I went for this one. I have seen many reviews on other sites for this Diverse range and all were complimentary. My only gripe is with BT who don't provide a detailed specification on their own website.

The features I was looking for were handsfree, assignable polyphonic ringtones and colour screen. So, it's a bonus to have the SIM card directory copy facility, the USB connectivity for downloading pictures and ringtones and caller display. It also has the ability to copy the directory from one handset to the other, so you don't have to go through the process of setting up the directory for each handset. In fact the number of features is very impressive.

I was relieved to find out that the handset is a decent size, 15cm x 5cm at the extremities, but I suppose it's all down to personal preferences.

So far I have not found anything disappointing about it and I feel like I have just moved into the 21st century as it makes my BT Diverse 2010 look like an antique! I just hope the new one proves to be as reliable.

Very good phone.......2007-10-15

Bought the twin pack 6450 with an extra handset last week,and have been getting to know it since then.
I was slightly worried about the comments regarding low ringer volume,but i am happy with the volume on maximum with mine,and as stated by others,certain ringtones are louder than others anyway.

The colour display is well laid out and clear,but in my opinion,it is very important to select the battery saver mode for all handsets,because the display will stay on all the time otherwise,and even on a full charge,one day off the base is enough to significantly decrease the battery level. With the battery saver active,the display goes out after a couple of minutes,but press any button and it comes back on,and also when you receive a call as well.

The ability to send an individual enty or the entire phone book to another handset is very handy.

It is slightly annoying that there is no visual indication of a received call if no message has been left....to see this you have to press the calls button,but its not a major hassle.

All in all a very good,fully featured phone,that fits into your hand nicely.

Very Poor........2007-06-20

I upgraded from a 5250 to the 6450, what a mistake. You only have to look at it and it scratches, you cannot see the screen in daylight, the ring tones are pathetic and do not work properly and the 300 mtr coverage is not as good as the 5250. I could go on. Very disappointed in this very inferior phone that will now be replaced by the old 5250. Why oh why did I buy this?

Spent ages reading reviews on different phones. Don't bother reading any more reviews, this is the phone to buy. Absolutely great. Have bought same for my parents - they love it. Recommending it to everyone. Have not found anything I don't like about it - hence, 5 stars.

you would have thought that BT would make the diverse phones compatible.......2007-04-03

My Diverse 3000series answer phone stopped working: so rather than have it mended I decided to have the latest Diverse phone to replace it. So far so good. I made the choice of the diverse 6450 twin pack (using the advice of Amazon buyers: having first to make sure that it has speaker phone: which one of the reviewers said it hadn't).
My home system has 4 diverse phones: 3 of 3000series and one 4000 series. They were compatible: so that I could transfer the directory, and transfer internally with the different phones.
Now, having bought the new version I find out that I cannot transfer the directory (or transfer from one internal phone to another) from the 4000 or 3000 series to the 6000 series. Which is a real pain!!! I now have to transfer all of directory numbers by hand. Effectively it means that I will have to buy another two phones to get all the advantages of having a home network)
If I had known that I would have gone for second hand 4000 series (which I've found brilliant)

Not 3G Sim compatible.......2006-08-03

I chose this particular phone as it has the ability to read mobile sims which greatly simplifies keeping the phonebook up to date. I should have done my homework better as sadly the 6450 is unable to read 3G sim cards - which means I'm back to entering them manually.

Overall I'm pleaseed with the phone - it's easy to use and has a good range of features. The main weakness is that the volume on speaker is low which makes it difficult sometimes to hear what quiet callers are saying. I've also noticed that silver BT symbol on earpiece is flaking bits of silver paint - which seems a bit poor quality for a phone of this price after only 2 months.

Hidden costs.......2005-03-15

The "Telephone features" panel on the Diverse 5210 packaging, shows and asterisk against 'Call Waiting' and 'Caller Display' to indicate there is a charge to activate these features.
There is no asterisk against 'SMS', so I bought the instrument in the belief I would get the feature I wanted, paying only 12p per message. No such luck. Only inside the pack do you find that the SMS feature requires a subscription to Caller Display.
BT are at fault here. Had I known in advance, I might have paid less for a different model. An additional £21 a year for SMS is too much: I'll stick with my mobile service.

Hopeless.......2004-05-14

As someone has commented elsewhere, these phones are slow, clunky and unresponsive. Worse still, speech quality at the 'other end' was very muffled and quiet - sent them back and swapped them for the Panasonic 507/515 which are infinitely better in every respect. So much for German engineering!

Slow to dial up numbers........2003-12-20

The reception on these phones is exceptional and there is no external noises, everything you would expect for a good quality digital phone.

Unfortunately there are a number of things which I do not lke about the phone -
1) When You are confronted with machine at the other end, you have to listen to all the options before you can select the option you desire, you can't cut this process off in mid sentence, very annoying
2) The buttons to select the options on the phone are a bit clumsy and need nimble fingers.
3) When you dial a number the time it take to actually ring at the other end is a bit too long. It remindes me of the phones with the circular dial.
4) Have tried to send a Text message from the phone - this I have been unable to do and I have tried a number of times. Need to read the manual very carefull.
5) Screen is a bit too small and has no light,

Good Points
1) Was able to sent a text message to the phone from my mobile. A useful thing to have.
2) Nice size,
3) I am able to talk and listen to people without the phone in my hand.
4) Good communication between the main hand set and the additional ones.
5) Can add up to 6 additional handsets,
6) Base unit a good size and can be hid away.

All in all I am happy with the phones
