Product Description
The TomTom RDS-TMC Traffic Receiver gets traffic information on the go, to your GO. For the one-off cost of the receiver you can get traffic updates and let your GO reroute you around congestion.
By simply connecting the TomTom GO (510-710-910-OneXL) device to the RDS-TMC Traffic Receiver, you will automatically receive traffic information via the TMC connection. Once a journey is planned, traffic alerts which relate to the route are clearly displayed in the traffic bar on the right hand side of the screen. When the you tap an icon shown in the traffic bar, you will receive further information, such as the cause or kind of delay to traffic, such as an accident or traffic jam.
RDS-TMC is available in: Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Italy, Netherlands, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and United Kingdom.
This accessory requires at least version 6.51 of the TomTom application. Connect your GO to your computer and use TomTom HOME to update your application automatically and for free

Newly bought aerial picks up signal well........2007-09-14
This aerial is actually compatible with the Tom Tom Go (v3), the non-XL version. This is currently not mentioned anywhere on the TomTom website, although customer services say the website will be updated to reflect this.
I have the aerial mounted vertically and it quickly picks up signal at my home and work, both in London. I have yet to try it on a journey.
It quickly picks up around 40-100 different traffic issues, all in the South-East (presumably because I'm using it in London). Although I've yet to verify it, it seems to underestimate the delay due to each issue, e.g. it regularly says a traffic delay will take "1 minute" although e.g. AA roadwatch reports 20 minutes delay.
Unfortunately you don't get much control over the routing algorithm - you can either avoid all traffic, however long that takes, or stick to the fastest route. You can't tell it (for example) that you quite dislike traffic, but not to choose a different route if it adds more than 20 minutes to your total journey. Like most of the TomTom software, it seems to be optimized for easy use at the expense of detailed control.
One other general complaint about the TomTom algorithms is they don't take time-of-day into account (this with software v7.1). They say south London to Banbury, through the centre of London, takes 1 minute 39, regardless of whether I ask at 1am or 7am. At 7am, it would be much higher. The algorithm should really consider time of day and realise that urban roads are slower at these times.
TomTOm RDS/TMC Receiver.......2007-09-11
DON'T BOTHER!!!!!!
This is the most useless thing I have ever used. I can only say thank god i did'nt pay good money for it as it came with my Go510.
I drive 30000 miles a year and have had it for nearly a year and its only ever tuned in twice and thats to Classic FM! Not exactly the first choice for traffic info!
I've spent more time in traffic holdups than ever and now rely on radio reports which use RDS to interupt what i'm listening to, to give me traffic info from local radio stations. Far more helpful.
When it can find a signal it's good, but it rarely finds a signal.......2007-08-20
There are too many dead areas to make this thing worth while. I have only had it working in parts of West and South Yorkshire, Oxford, Peterborough and Birmingham.
When it does pickup a signal it is a very useful tool.
I sent the first one back to Tomtom, the replacement is no better.
Waste of money.......2007-07-21
This thing is a complete waste of money.
It spends most of its time "tuning" and not finding anything.
In 1 year has twice told me about a short delay I knew of - the latest error was a 3.5 hour delay and it didn't know anything was wrong!
Useless tosh that doesn't even come with instructions.
Do NOT by one!
Totally useless.......2007-07-11
I would have rated this minus stars if I could. We live close to London and this device has locked on twice to signal in 5 months. I'll tell how bad it is. I parked up in my drive with the antenna fixed to the windscreen and I had the familiar rotating orange symbol. I tuned into Classic FM and listened to a traffic report. I did the same with Southern FM. Did the receiver lock on, did it **@@! Tom Tom says this device has not always met customers' expectations (yeah, right) and they say they will replace this with a new receiver when it comes out in Q2 07, which by my reckoning ended 2 weeks ago at the end of June.

Customer Reviews:
Excellent piece of kit.......2007-08-17
I must admit to being a little aprehensive when buying the Tom Tom Go 910 due to some of the negative comments. Once it arrived however I found it to be outstanding. The full post code search makes finding locations very straightforward and points of interest have included most of what I have been loking for.
Bluetooth hands-free has worked well, on the Tom Tom site it suggested that my phone (sony 990i) would work partially, i.e. not downloading the address list, but in practice it worked perfectly.
A brilliant extra is the MP3 player which works with a 20gb memory and plays through a FM transmitter to the car stereo. This worked perfectly in a number of cars - kept the kids quiet (apart from singing) on a holiday through wales
One complaint about which much made is the car mount - with some saying it does not work - all I can say is if you follow the instructions no problems whatsoever
Overall highly recommended - but one sorry postscript, some herbert stole the GPS out of the car and Amazon no longer have it in stock so it is back to the A_Z for a few weeks
Me too!.......2007-07-24
Just like the other reviewers, my product code does not work, and guidance is pretty poor. Not too impressed with its navigating ability either. I have only used it once, from Shropshire to Pembrokeshire, and trying to use the route I rate as best was not possible. Apparerntly there are no routes passing through Ludlow, Leominster and/or Brecon. Not only that, but in Fishguard, trying to find a postcode, we were taken out of town, around the by-pass, then back in to the same roundabout we had already passed through. At two junctions, the nice lady inside directed us the opposite way to the mapped direction. Perhaps I should have used the man! The FM transmitter works fine in my car, but the music player is a not very sophisticated. All in all, not very impressed with a so called top of the range package.
Oh dear!!.......2007-07-20
Have to agree with T. Brissenden on most points except his comments on cameras. These DO come installed, you just have to subscribe to keep them up to date. I also was given an invalid product code but because I have heard so much negative feedback about after sales service I haven't bothered to do anything about it. I have tried the FM transmitter in three different cars with varying degrees of success. In one car it didn't work, in another it worked poorly and in another it worked quite well. The 910 sat/nav itself is excellent with more features than you will ever need, although I will use a lot of them on my travels through France this year and Florida next.My only other gripe is the GPS quickfix system on TomTom Home which coordinates the satellites with your 910 for quicker functioning. When I link the unit with my computer it sometimes freezes and I have to reset it, so I don't bother any more.
Not Recommended.......2007-06-19
A good thing when it works, support is non existent, Cameras dont come already installed like tomtom say, you have to pay extra. Was given an invalid product code which you need to register with them, so far despite many attemts i have been unable to get a correct one, F M transmitter is not too good, sound quality is not what you would expect. Its a shame they cant provide the back up for this and make it a bit more reliable as it could be an excellent system if it done all they say it should with reliability
